Response to frightening California ruling yanking good parents' rights
Thomasson: "This frightening ruling sets a terrible precedent that the government can subjectively remove children from good parents."

Sacramento, California -- In light of a startling ruling by a California state appeals court that a good mother can have her parental rights eliminated, Randy Thomasson, president of the pro-family organization SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement:

"This frightening ruling sets a terrible precedent that the government can subjectively remove children from good parents. But God gave children to parents, not to the State. This unfortunate decision should be reversed, not only because it violates the bright line between the jurisdiction of the family and the jurisdiction of the government, but because the court had other options.

"There are some youths who are truly 'bad apples,' and there are others who engage in self-destructive behavior to try to fill the void of a missing father. But whether children are good, bad, or in between, heaven forbid that the government destroy the fundamental parental rights of non-abusive fathers and mothers. Government can't fix all the world's problems, which is why the Savior Jesus Christ came into the world."
