Daily prayer to God is essential for the soul to be filled, not empty; solid, not confused. I find that when I don’t pray to God each morning, it’s much easier for me to sin that day.

But will God hear your prayers if you’re not truly sorry for your sins? Consider this top Bible verse for the National Day of Prayer, from 2 Chronicles 7:14:

…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Note how this is a conditional promise from God. For only “if” God’s people follow God’s three requirements will God “then” do three miraculous things in response. What does God require of us?

1. “Humble themselves”: Humility means recognizing our lowly and dependent status before God, and to recognize and confess our sins and guilt before the Creator.

2. “Pray and seek My face”: This is your sincere prayer to your true God. Praying to Him “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24) is how Jesus Christ described true worshipers that the Father seeks. In the context of 2 Chronicles 7:14, this is appealing to the Judge of the Universe, who is offering forgiveness for His People if they fulfill these requirements: a) become humble, b) pray to God in light of His judgment of sin and power to forgive, c) repent of all known sin.

3. “Turn from their wicked ways”: This is the required condition for forgiveness that too many people ignore. “Turn from” means to depart from or abandon. All sinful practices are wicked to God. Fulfilling this condition requires deep humility and fear of God. Turning is an action that proves your attitude. Turning from your sins and turning to God means to replace your desire and practice of sin with a desire for God and His holiness. This hard work requires “putting to death” sinful practices. “For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (Romans 8:13).

So when you pray daily or pray to God with others on National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, remember to take personal inventory and intend to repent of all known sin in Jesus’ name. For then God will hear from heaven and forgive your sin.

This week, more bad bills, authored by Democrats, passed Democrat-controlled committees in the California Legislature:

AB 1266 forces K-12 public schools to permit biological boys into girls’ restrooms, showers, clubs, and on girls’ sports teams; and biological girls into boys’ restrooms, showers, clubs, and on boys’ sports teams (committee vote) (see existing sexual indoctrination laws)

AB 926 permits young women to be paid to have their human eggs extracted (and destroyed) for the purpose of “medical research,” which also sets the stage for future human cloning. These egg “donations” harm women’s health, can result in sterility, and denies the participants informed consent. (committee vote) (see “eggsploitation” explained)

This is what you get with the Democrats having majority control, and now supermajority (two-thirds) control, of the California Legislature.

What do you get with a Democrat supermajority in Sacramento? A virtual guarantee that bad bills harming children and families will pass the California Legislature.

Demonstrating a serious misunderstanding of human design, natural sex, religious freedom, and personal responsibility, these Democrat-authored bills are advancing through Democrat-controlled committees in a torrid quest to replace wisdom with foolishness and moral virtues with licentiousness:

AB 154 permits nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and physician assistants to perform suction abortions, which tortuously dismember pre-born babies in the womb (committee vote)

AB 926 permits young women to be paid to have their human eggs extracted (and destroyed) for the purpose of “medical research,” which also sets the stage for future human cloning. AB 999 hands out condoms to homosexuals in state prisons, spreading more disease (committee vote)

SB 323 punishes the Boy Scouts by removing their tax-deductible, non-profit status unless they allow homosexual scoutmasters (committee vote)

This is what California’s Democrat-controlled Legislature is doing. Now you can inform others.

People make decisions every minute, either conscious or subconscious. But our decisions are ours, and ours alone.

As Jesus Christ said in Mark 7:21-23, “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride [or arrogance], foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

Note that in this long list of sins, Jesus includes foolishness. Identifying foolishness as a sin may be a new concept for many. What is foolishness? I define it as doing something wrong when I should have known better or didn’t care to remember what was right. Being foolish is not as bad as being wicked, which is to know something is wrong and harmful and still do it anyway. But foolishness is still bad and still harmful and, to Jesus, still a sin. Here are other definitions of foolishness.

When it comes to voting, none of us should want to be foolish about God’s non-negotiable values, should we? Especially on these vital issues:

Innocent human beings. From conception, people are created in God’s image. This is why abortion, murder, manslaughter, suicide, and euthanasia are wrong. But this year, the Democrat legislators are pushing for nurses to torturously murder innocent preborn babies. Source

Sexual purity. God made sexual intimacy and sexual pleasure for marriage, to help a husband and wife bond and produce children. This is why all sexual pleasure outside of marriage – including homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality – is eventually harmful to perpetrators, children, and society. But the Democrat lawmakers are pushing yet another sexual indoctrination bill – this time to promote cross-dressing and sex-changes by eliminating gender distinctions in government school restrooms, showers, and sports teams. Source

Family protection. God has commanded fathers to protect their families from harm. This means, if required, lethal defense against a home invader. Criminals have guns and bullets. Do you also want to have both a gun and ammunition to defend yourself and your family, if needed? The Democrat politicians want to make it harder for fathers and mothers to buy ammunition and also want to eliminate your opportunity to have as many bullets in your gun as criminals can have in their guns. A raft of anti-gun – instead of anti-crime — bills attack the Second Amendment rights of responsible, safe individuals concerned about home defense and protecting their family. Source

The bad news is with a two-thirds supermajority of Democrats in both the California State Senate and the California State Assembly, these harmful bills are virtually guaranteed to pass. Of course, in a system of representative government, bad bills are the result of voters’ foolishness.

At this unprecedented time in history, lobbying the California Legislature won’t stop bad bills that the majority party, the Democrats, want to pass. Instead of fighting these short-term battles that we cannot win, moral citizens should focus on the root problem — foolish voters in a foolish society.

Each one of us should take every opportunity we can to educate others about logical cause-and-effect problems and solutions; family values for a child’s best interest; God’s values in the Bible; or whatever Truth standard hearers will accept. We must bring forth both logical and factual evidence, using resources like these:

For the record, Democrats have been in control of the California State Legislature for more than 50 years, with only three of those years when Republicans were in charge of the Assembly, the lower house. After reading the U.S. Supreme Court transcript of the March 26 oral arguments, my strong belief is Proposition 8, California’s Marriage Amendment, will be decided by one man on the divided court — Anthony Kennedy.

The high court’s “swing vote” is a non-constructionist who believes in the notion of homosexual “rights,” not realizing that  homosexuality is a behavior and not an immutable characteristic, which is required to be considered as a “suspect class” with “civil rights” protection.

Still, Kennedy seems to be a traditionalist in support of a married father and mother being in a child’s best interest, calls homosexual marriages “uncharted waters,” and doesn’t like the “odd rationale” of the Ninth Circuit, which deemed Prop. 8 “unconstitutional.”

Our Republic is on very shaky ground when judges don’t follow the plain words and original intent of the written Constitution. This is why I’ve been telling people that the Prop. 8 case, as much as it matters as a role model for children, is more about our Republic than about marriage.

For no People will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when Knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own Weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

The homosexual activists and their attorneys and unconstitutional, liberal judges defeated Prop. 8 in San Francisco federal court in August 2010 and at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in February 2012. So our side appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court, and being granted the March 26, 2013 hearing, is the only way to save Prop. 8 from being killed off.

This is a severe crisis. Marriage and our Republic sometimes seem to be hanging by a thread. However, if I were a betting man, I would bet Prop. 8 is upheld, even by one vote. That would likely come from the nine-member high court’s “swing vote,” Anthony Kennedy of California. Kennedy, who believes in homosexual “rights” (but you can’t award rights based on non-immutable or changeable behavior), still might uphold traditional marriage.

You see, in the 2003 Lawrence v. Texas case, which struck down all laws prohibiting sodomy, Kennedy wrote three times that legalizing homosexuality does not mean the government must give formal recognition to these relationships.

What’s more, for Kennedy and the four more conservative justices on the high court, the Prop. 8 case is coming to them with a big bull’s eye painted on it. “Liberal of liberals” Stephen Reinhardt, who “struck down” Prop. 8 at the appeals court level, is the most overturned judge in America by the nation’s high court.

Prop. 8 reserved marriage licenses in California for “a man and a woman.” But the legal issues in the Prop. 8 case are more about our republic than about marriage.

Where is marriage in the U.S. Constitution? Nowhere. But the Constitution in Article IV, Section 4 says that each state is guaranteed ‘a republican form of government’ — a government under the written law, not government run by the unconstitutional prejudices of some judges.

And the Tenth Amendment says what are not federal powers, and what is not denied the states, are powers that belong to individual states. What is the supreme law of California? The California Constitution, which, because of Prop. 8, reads, in Article 1, Section 7.5, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

Therefore, the U.S. Supreme Court should uphold Prop. 8 and reserve marriage licenses exclusively for a man and a woman, not only for the sake of children and families, but for the sake of our Republic.

What do you get with the Democrats in firm control of both houses of the California Legislature? Take a look at some of their new bills harming children and families:

Pushing sexual perversity 

AB 1266: Forces California K-12 government schools to allow biological boys in girls’ restrooms, showers, and on girls’ sports teams; and permits biological girls in boys’ restrooms, showers, and on boys’ sports teams. All under the guise of “gender identity” (transsexuality, transvestitism, cross-dressing, etc.). Authored by homosexual activist Tom Ammiano, a Democrat assemblymember from San Francisco. 

SB 323: Demands that the Boy Scouts accept homosexual-bisexual-transsexual leaders and members or lose their state tax-exempt status. Designed to decrease donations to the Boy Scouts over the national Scouts policy requiring leaders and members to be “morally straight.”  Authored by another homosexual activist, Democrat Senator Ricardo Lara of Long Beach. 

SB 145: This bill is poorly-written at best and deceptive at worst. While claiming to toughen child pornography prosecutions, SB 145 is written to potentially decrease penalties to a mere fine and parole for possessing or selling up to 600 sexual images of children through age 17. Authored by Democrat Senator Fran Pavley of Agoura Hills and co-authored by liberal Republican Jeff Gorrell of Camarillo.

Killing babies, damaging women

AB 154: Kills preborn babies by permitting nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and physician assistants to torturously vacuum apart babies in the womb (this is what a suction abortion does). A similar bill died in committee last year but is more likely to pass this year. Authored by former abortion clinic manager and open homosexual Assemblymember Toni Atkins, a San Diego Democrat.

AB 926: Threatens young women’s health by paying them to be injected with hormones and drugs for the purpose of giving up their reproductive eggs. This dangerous procedure can leave young women sterile and physically harmed, without informed consent. Authored by Susan Bonilla, a Democrat assemblymember from Solano and Contra Costa counties. See the March 10 Sacramento Bee article on AB 926

And on the important but uncomfortable moral subject of homosexuality/bisexuality/transsexuality, someone has to say the truth — because children and adults are being harmed by these unnatural, unhealthy, unbiblical, and tyrannical behaviors.

1. Against Health: Male homosexuality has the highest rates of HIV/AIDS and a host of other sexually transmitted diseases, higher cancer rates, and earlier deaths. Documentation

2. Against the Best Interest of Children: Boys and girls raised by female homosexuals have skewed gender identities. Girls are more masculine-acting and more aggressive than normal, and boys are less masculine-acting and more passive than normal. And a significantly greater portion of young adults raised in these homosexual households have experimented with homosexual acts themselves, as compared with those raised in natural family households. 3. Against Stability: The marriages of husbands and wives, on average, are 1000% stronger, with 10 times the duration, of homosexuals who cohabitate. There is no such thing as marriage without a man and a woman. And neither can claims of same-sex “commitment” match man-woman marriage. Official census data found 50% of man-woman marriages lasted 20+ years, while only 5% of homosexual couples even claimed this duration (among whom, male homosexual couples often have “open” relationships). 4. Against Liberty: In California, there are state laws and court rulings that give homosexuality/bisexuality/transsexuality the force of law. These official policies oppress religious freedom, parental rights, property owner rights, business owner rights, foster parent rights, physician rights, counselor rights, and even Boy Scout rights. Here’s the latest intolerant attack by homosexual activists against moral virtues and a private group’s right to set its own standards.

5. Against Constitutional Rights and Civil Rights: There is no “gay gene,” thus no basis for civil rights designation. Consider that race and ethnicity are inherited, but homosexuality is not, as both science and thousands of former homosexuals demonstrate. A changeable behavior is not immutable; therefore homosexuality/bisexuality/transsexuality should not have been given the legal force of non-discrimination laws, such as those based on immutable race and immutable gender. Look what’s happened — bestowing civil rights status upon homosexuality and “gender identity” (transsexuality) has resulted in the severe infringement of Americans’ First Amendment rights — religious freedom, free speech, and freedom of association. 6. Against God: From Genesis through Revelation, the Bible describes homosexual behavior as sin. Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, specifically defined marriage as only for one man and one woman in Matthew 19, and He taught that all sexual activities outside of marriage are sin in Mark 7 (“adulteries,” “fornications,” “lewdness”).

When people’s constitutional rights and their conscience before God is trampled, I’m concerned.

And when adults publicly celebrate and promote to children a behavior that results in three-quarters of the HIV/AIDS transmissions in our nation, I am very concerned. So should everyone who knows what’s true and cares about children and our society.

When should you allow your child to date? Or should they date at all?

Barack Obama has implied that his oldest daughter, who’s 14, is dating.

Is that too young or it is okay? Where’s the dating scene gotten our nation? And what has starting romance in our early teens done to children?

It’s highly worthwhile to take inventory of what the modern invention of dating, and its emotional and physical expectations, has produced.

And when you look at it closely, the dating culture has led to widespread heartbreak, sexual immorality, STDs, abortion, abuse, and divorce. All of these ills are much more likely to come from dating than courtship. For God did not intend for parents to cut their teenagers loose to follow their own foolish feelings.

Where does abortion come from? Primarily sex out of wedlock.

Sexually-transmitted diseases? The same.

What has the highest domestic violence rates? Unmarried relationships.

What reinforces a divorce mentality? The constant breakups of dating.

All this is why I’m no longer a fan of dating and instead support courtship. Courtship puts the parents in a wise and beneficial position to advise and approve and protect hearts and minds and bodies. I’m convinced courtship is the best way to obtain a secure marriage.

How is courtship different from and better than dating? Tracey Bartolomei explains:

The main difference between dating and courtship is the attitude that one assumes towards relationships and the activities in which the couple engages before marriage. Contemporary dating is generally a self-focused past time. It is characterized by expectations of physical/emotional intimacy without commitment. Self-gratification is paramount. If either party is no longer gratified the relationship ends; thus, a cycle of short-term relationship begins and continues.

In courtship, both individuals have the understanding that marriage is the eventual goal of the relationship. Courtship takes a more thoughtful, long- term approach to a premarital relationship. The emphasis is on developing friendships and seeking compatibility in ones future mate. Courtship doesn’t actually begin until each feels that the other person could be a perspective marriage partner. Their time together is spent getting to know teach other better through conversation and group socialization, rather than sexual intimacy.
