California 'LGBT' Bills Trample Your Rights
Randy Thomasson and Dr. Paul Cameron expose harm of Democrats' bills

Sacramento, California -- A trio of bills trampling religious freedom, privacy, and the conscience rights of parents, counselors, foster parents, and business owners at the behest of the intolerant "lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender (LGBT)" agenda is being exposed by SaveCalifornia.com, along with Dr. Paul Cameron, a leading authority on the homosexual-bisexual-transsexual lifestyle.

"The foundation of the 'gay rights' movement is without scientific substance," said Dr. Paul Cameron, Ph.D, a leading researcher and clinician, and chairman of the Family Research Institute in Colorado Springs, who is in California this week. "Even the American Psychological Association has stated there is no 'gay' gene. The empirical data show this is an unnatural and unhealthy behavior that in no way compares to racial minorities or qualifies as a civil right. And now those who love children, even their own children, and those who stand on the side of scientific truth, will they be punished?" "This Democrat-driven agenda threatens the basic liberties of average Californians, who are tired of 'LGBT' activists penalizing people who disagree. What ever happened to 'live and let live'? These bad bills unfairly discriminate against and punish innocent people with the iron fist of the government," said Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good. "Children with sexual identity struggles get depressed by someone telling them they are locked into sexual behavior, instead of informing them that they have freedom to make healthy choices. SB 1172 will depress and harm struggling children instead of giving them a chance at freedom."

SB 1172 by Democrat Senator Ted Lieu of Torrance abuses parental authority and invades family privacy by preventing parents from choosing the best help they can find for their own child, and by fining counselors who specialize in helping children who are struggling with sexual identity issues.

AB 1856 by Democrat Assemblyman Tom Ammiano of San Francisco forces foster parents with loving homes to violate their personal and religious values, and abandon the best interest of children, by mandating that foster parents be "trained" to embrace all types of sexual activities among minors.

AB 1960 by Democrat Assemblyman Roger Dickenson of Sacramento invades the personal privacy of business owners by asking them to disclose their sex practices.

"These bills by Democrat state legislators are unconstitutional attacks upon the ability of parents to protect their children, and upon the freedom to believe what you want," Thomasson said. "These bills are intolerant because dissent and disagreement aren't allowed, so the 'LGBT' agenda gets to trample the consciences of parents, family counselors, foster parents, and state contractors. These Democrat-authored bills are the mark of a tyrannical government, not a republic or a free society."

Regarding SB 1172, Cameron said, "Parents have a natural and constitutional right to try to protect their children against adopting bad habits. If a son is getting involved in the gay subculture, parents rightly become concerned. SB 1172 denies parents the right to seek professional help to keep him from becoming a homosexual. The CDC reports about 300,000 gays have died from, more than 600,000 gays are infected with, and nearly 30,000 gays each year get infected by HIV transmitted to them by other gays. Just as the prudent parent wants his kids to stay away from drugs, most mothers and fathers want their children to avoid being involved with homosexuality. You don't want your child to die because he acquires unhealthy sexual tastes. Yet SB 1172 would forbid a licensed professional from helping children avoid this danger." The American Psychiatric Association defines a mental disorder as "a clinically significant behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual and that is associated with present distress (e.g., a painful symptom) or disability (i.e., impairment in one or more important areas of functioning) or with a significantly increased risk of suffering death, pain, or an important loss of freedom." (See the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association (current edition, 2000) http://www.psychiatry.org/practice/dsm and http://allpsych.com/disorders/dsm.html.

"Parents have the God-given responsibility to protect their children from present distress and from needlessly suffering pain or death," Cameron said. "SB 1172, in the name of pseudo-science, would deny mothers and fathers the ability to obtain professional help to protect their boys and girls. The way to protect young people from suicide is to tell them their innate worth and their personal responsibility to make healthy choices, not tell them they have no choice, which depresses individuals struggling with sexual identity." (See "Separation/divorce and child and adolescent completed suicide," Columbia University, New York, 1998: In a social-psychological autopsy of 120 consecutive suicides of predominately males under age 20, fewer than 5 of these suicides were involved with homosexuality, with none appearing attributable to homosexuality.)

"Sexual activities and sexual preferences, especially in the case of children, can be modified and changed," Cameron explained. "It is ethically wrong to prohibit parents from seeking and receiving professional assistance to help their own children with serious problems like this."

To help California parents understand and respond to the sexual pressures being placed on their children through public schools, entertainment media, and negative peer pressure, SaveCalifornia.com has created "Not Born This Way," which includes assistance for anyone struggling with sexual identity.
