Assembly Democrats Weaken Parental Rights on Vaccinations
Thomasson: AB 2109 is "trampling the rights of fathers and mothers"

Sacramento, California -- A statewide family issues organization is decrying today's passage by the California State Assembly of a bill that weakens the rights of parents to refuse vaccinations for their children. AB 2109 passed 49 to 24 in the Democrat-controlled house, and now goes to Governor Jerry Brown, a Democrat, who has 30 days to sign or veto.

"The Democrats are trampling the rights of fathers and mothers to decide whether or not to accept controversial vaccinations for their own children," said Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good.

"This bad bill eliminates the current 'personal beliefs' exemption to a slew of childhood vaccinations and instead requires that all California parents who wish to opt their children out of vaccines get a signed waiver from a doctor or nurse stating that they participated in an indoctrination session about the supposed health risks of not vaccinating," he explained. "Many parents will not endure this professional berating and will instead cave into these risky vaccinations."

If signed into law, AB 2109 mandates that, starting in 2014, every child of school age -- including home-schooled and church-schooled children -- will be forcibly vaccinated whether or not their parents want it.

There are thousands of California parents who oppose vaccinating their young children due to the known health risks of vaccinations, including destruction of the natural immunity process, acceleration of auto-immune disease processes, and possible triggering of autism in infants.

An increasing number of informed parents are concerned about toxic additives used in vaccines, the serious risks and side effects associated with receiving them, and how the long-term health of children may be permanently affected by the "professional" vaccine schedule. "If a parent doesn't want a needle in the arm of their own child, the state ought not come in and bully the parents into submission," Thomasson said. "Governor Brown ought to veto this bill which invades the sanctity of the home."
