SaveCalifornia.com Condemns Democrat Legislators for Voting to Impose Higher Taxes and Fees, Instead of Cutting Massive Waste and Fraud from California State Government

Sacramento, California -- Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a statewide non-partisan pro-family organization, issued the following statement in response to Democrats in the California State Assembly passing a package of bills Sunday night that would impose higher taxes and fees upon Californians:
 
"California voters are frustrated and angry that Democrats in Sacramento seem deaf to the democratic vote of the people. The voters rejected higher taxes and fees and more borrowing in the May 19 special election. But Democrat lawmakers aren't listening. Hard-working families now suspect who to blame for the financial pressure they're feeling. In the face of massive waste and fraud in government, it's dead wrong to raise taxes and fees.
 
"The tax on oil companies will trickle down and make us all pay more at the pump. The increased car tax will come directly out of drivers' pockets. The tax on homeowner's insurance means more people will lose their houses. And the tax on cigarettes encourages the Democrats to increase taxes whenever and wherever they can. All this, when tens of billions of dollars in waste and fraud should be slashed instead.
 
"We call upon the Governor to veto these tax-and-fee hikes if Senate Democrats become accomplices to this insensitive attack upon California families."
 
SaveCalifornia.com's research has determined tens of billions of dollars could be saved annually by eliminating waste, fraud, duplication, and inefficiency from California state government.
