Return to CCF In the News index page Equality California, Campaign for Children at opposite ends Glenn Franco Simmons, The Eureka Reporter February 15, 2006 Equality California said it is the state's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil-rights organization.
“Equality California leads efforts for LGBT civil rights at the state level through an array of strategies including lobbying legislators, building coalitions and empowering other organizations and individuals to engage in the legislative process, and sponsoring bills and leading efforts to ensure their passage,” according to EQCA’s Web site.
EQCA’s Institute informs LGBT people and the public about issues that impact the LGBT community.
It also “trains them to respond and work proactively for LGBT equality, and connects communities working for justice and civil rights for all,” according to the Web site.
“Equality California Institute organizes advocacy trainings, forums and legislative briefings in multiple cities with hundreds of individuals and organizations,” the Web site states. “The newly formed EQCA PAC endorses candidates and supports their campaigns through donations and volunteer muscle. In the last election cycle, over 85 percent of Equality California-endorsed candidates won their races. Through the efforts of Equality California PAC, we are working to expand the number of fair-minded representatives in Sacramento.”
“(The) Campaign for Children and Families is an innovative nonprofit, nonpartisan pro-family organization serving children and families in California and America,” according to its Web site. “CCF believes that the natural family needs respect and support, and that children need healthy role models to have the best life possible.
“Campaign for Children and Families was founded by veteran pro-family leader and CCF President Randy Thomasson.
