Sacramento, California -- In response to Governor Jerry Brown's rush to judgment in signing SB 277 without adequate review of parents' concerns, SaveCalifornia.com, a leading California pro-family organization which promotes moral virtues for the common good, is calling upon concerned fathers and mothers to exercise peaceful disobedience on the highly personal issue of mandatory vaccines for their children.

"The apostles of Jesus Christ, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rosa Parks all refused to obey unjust laws," said SaveCalifornia.com President Randy Thomasson. "It's unjust how SB 277 would force a historically high volume of vaccines into the bodies of vulnerable children despite their parents' objections -- so why comply? If America's civil rights history has taught us anything, it's that natural rights are right, no matter what any politician or judge says."

"Parental rights -- the right to raise and educate your own children -- predates any written law," Thomasson said. "A God-given, natural right must be exercised no matter how unjust the State is. As Hebrew midwives refused to allow baby boys to be killed, so thousands of Californian parents with children who are genetically susceptible to vaccines should protect them by just saying no to SB 277."

"Are public schools really going to kick out children who are unvaccinated or 'under-vaccinated?'" Thomasson asked. "Government K-12 schools haven't been complying with the current law requiring full vaccination, so it's doubtful they'll give up Average Daily Attendance funds for this. And are church-based schools really going to trample on families by eliminating this long-held parental right? With no teeth in SB 277 and little enforcement expected, concerned parents have every reason to reject vaccines if their love for their kids and their conscience so dictates."

"It's astounding that this bill was signed despite an increasing number of pro-vaccine parents who use a slower pace, alternative vaccine schedule, which a growing number of pediatricians support," Thomasson said. "Yet SB 277 denies parents the guaranteed right to exempt their alternate schedule children, even on a "conditional" basis. This means SB 277 would deny these children kindergarten, first grade, and perhaps second grade, until they're 'fully vaccinated.' Yet 'full vaccination' may never occur, because more parents are objecting to having their child injected with the Hepatitis B vaccine, since Hepatitis B is a sexually-transmitted disease and these are innocent little kids."

"One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws," wrote Martin Luther King, Jr. in his 1963 "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." "SB 277 unjustly tramples parental rights, religious freedom, and medical freedom on controversial vaccines," Thomasson said. "If Governor Brown speciously claimed his own right of conscience not to defend Proposition 8 on marriage, certainly, fathers and mothers who believe their children are better off without, or with fewer, vaccines have a conscience right to boldly exercise their love on behalf of their precious boys and girls."

Pro-family response to SCOTUS attack on marriage, states' rights
Thomasson: "Sovereign states with constitutional marriage amendments should ignore this unconstitutional edict"

Sacramento, California -- A leading pro-family organization in California is explaining why today's unconstitutional opinion on marriage from five of nine U.S. Supreme Court justices should be ignored by states with man-woman marriage definitions in their state constitutions.

"The Supreme Court got this wrong because a narrow majority of justices do not fear God and have rebelled against their promises to 'support and defend' the clearly written words of the U.S. Constitution, which does not contain the word 'marriage' but explicitly honors states' rights," said Randy Thomasson, a veteran man-woman marriage defender and president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good. "The 14th Amendment is not about marriage but about race; not about couples but individuals -- essential distinctions one must recognize in order to be loyal to the Constitution."

"Because the Supreme Court has no troops to enforce its illegitimate opinion, sovereign states with constitutional marriage amendments should ignore this unconstitutional edict and should instead faithfully enforce their state constitutions, as all state officials swear to do," Thomasson said. "While federal judges subvert the written words of the Constitution, it is incumbent upon state-based supporters of our republic to authorize only man-woman marriages -- the natural kind -- as God-given stabilizers for family and society, supplying what's in the best interest of children."

Facts:

1. Marriage licenses and regulation are not in the United States Constitution, are therefore the jurisdiction of voters in individual states (9th and 10th Amendments; Article IV, Section 4).

2. Article IV, Section 4 guarantees to every state "a republican form of government" -- meaning 1) no monarchy and 2) no lawless mob rule, but a government of written laws representing the will of the people, who are sovereign. State constitutions represent the People's will on marriage, which the federal judiciary must affirm. (See footnote recording James Madison's definition of republican government as "a republican constitution and its existing laws" http://constitution.findlaw.com/article4/annotation18.html#t322)

3. The 10th Amendment explicitly says powers that don't belong to the federal government, or what the Constitution does not prohibit among the states, are state powers. Therefore, marriage is under the states' jurisdiction.

4. The 14th Amendment is one of three post-Civil War amendments and was about race -- giving black former slaves the same legal rights of white freemen -- not about marriage. The Amendment applied to the states what was already a federal right enshrined in the 5th Amendment -- that no one should be killed (deprived of life), imprisoned or enslaved (deprived of liberty), or deprived of their property without a court order (due process of law). Further, the Equal Protection Clause in no way requires the recognition of same-sex "marriages" because homosexual couples are not the same as heterosexual couples. They cannot have a conjugal union that produces children, and one of the primary purposes of marriage is to bind together fathers and mothers for the benefit of the children they bring into the world.

Sacramento, California -- A leading family values organization in California says vulnerable people will be pressured to die prematurely, now that Democrats in the state Senate are promoting suicide as official state policy.

"For all practical purposes, SB 128 would open the door to pressure the weak and vulnerable to die prematurely," said Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good, and which lobbied against the bill. "People who otherwise could have fought to live or at least extended their lives will be 'helped' to die early, and that's shameful. Is life precious or is life a burden? Should we prevent or promote suicide? Good government values innocent human life and discourages suicide. 'Assisted suicide' passing a house of the California Legislature demonstrates we no longer have good government. The 23 Democrats who voted to promote suicide deserve the public's rebuke. We commend the 14 Republicans and one Democrat, Tony Mendoza, who voted to affirm life, both as a practical value and a cultural ethic."

"SB 128 actually permits a legal heir to help request and even administer the lethal drug," Thomasson said. "If the prescribed patient hesitates or delays, what's to stop someone from dissolving the water-soluble drug and giving it to the unsuspecting patient to drink? This poorly-drafted bill exempts them from law enforcement. And how would anyone know whether this crime was committed or whether there was a struggle?"

"When a law permits doctors to kill patients, and exempts physicians from any liability, that's a license to coerce, if not a license to kill," Thomasson said. "How opposite from the Hippocratic Oath, where physicians pledge, 'I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan.'"

"This bad bill promotes deception among doctors," Thomasson noted. "SB 128 does not require a doctor to write 'suicide' or 'physician-assisted suicide' as the cause of death. And SB 128 fails to require that psychiatrist expert confirm the patient 'has the ability to understand the nature and consequences of a health care decision the ability to understand its significant benefits, risks, and alternatives, and the ability to make and communicate an informed decisions to health care providers.' What's more, SB 128 exempts doctors prescribing these poison pills from any and all liability. This poorly-drafted bill will result in unreported coercion to usher in early deaths that will save hospitals and insurance companies money. Because some patients are cheaper dead than alive!"

"The pain argument is a fabrication," Thomasson continued. "Not only are today's pain-compliance therapies so advanced as to largely extinguish pain, Oregonians requesting physician-assisted suicide do not cite pain as a major concern. Instead, they're concerned about loss of independence, ability, and 'dignity.' Yet these are marks of depression and no depressed person should be offered suicide. A 21-year-old, hospitalized after receiving serious injuries in an auto accident, could have similar complaints. SB 128 essentially targets depressed people who, rightly or wrongly, have been labeled 'terminal,' and hands them the equivalent of a loaded gun. This is not good public policy, and flies in the face of existing suicide prevention programs that are part of Prop. 63."

"If 'assisted suicide' becomes the law, you can expect suicide to gain in popularity," Thomasson said. "Look at the rash of copycat suicides in Palo Alto, where nearly every year one or more teenagers throw themselves in front of a train. Look at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, where numerous suicides have necessitated a suicide-prevention telephone and posted sign, reading "There is hope, make the call." Look how the rate of 'conventional' suicides are running rampant in Oregon, with hospitals reporting an alarming rate of 'self-inflicted' suicide attempts, making suicide the second leading cause of death among teens and young adults. It's clear that promoting one kind of suicide promotes suicide in general."

From the Oregon Public Health Division, 2012: "Suicides in Oregon: Trends and Risk Factors":

"Suicide is an important public health problem in Oregon. Health surveys conducted in 2008 and 2009 show that approximately 15 percent of teens and four percent of adults ages 18 and older had serious thoughts of suicide during the past year; and about five percent of teens and 0.4 percent of adults made a suicide attempt in the past year. In 2010, there were 685 Oregonians who died by suicide and more than 2,000 hospitalizations due to suicide attempts. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among Oregonians ages 15-34, and the 8th leading cause of death among all ages in Oregon. The cost of suicide is enormous. In 2010 alone, self-inflicted injury hospitalization charges exceeded 41 million dollars; and the estimate of total lifetime cost of suicide in Oregon was over 680 million dollars. The loss to families and communities broadens the impact of each death."

Sacramento, California -- A leading pro-family organization in California is appalled that more than a dozen Republican state legislators have voted against natural family values. On June 22, there were 16 Republicans who joined with the majority of Democrats in two houses of the California State Legislature to approve pro-"Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender" resolutions.

"Why are Republican legislators voting for the unnatural, unhealthy, and tyrannical 'LGBT' agenda that goes against the good of children and families?" asked Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good. "It's expected that Democrats will vote against family values, but to see a raft of Republicans support the homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda is unheard of."

"Do Republican legislators think pro-family voters will give them a pass for joining the Democrats in supporting the 'LGBT' agenda that's aggressively eliminating religious freedom and free speech in our land?" Thomasson asked. "It's completely hypocritical for someone like Assemblyman Chad Mayes of Yucca Valley, who calls himself a committed church-going Christian, to go against what God's word says against gender and sex."

"In California, the 'LGBT' agenda has done great damage to the people's vote on marriage, children in public schools, people's health, religious freedom, freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, and freedom of association," Thomasson said. "The intolerant ''LGBT' agenda should be opposed for the sake of liberty and love. What were these Republicans thinking when they voted against families and for sexual tyranny?"

Response to frightening California ruling yanking good parents' rights

Sacramento, California -- In light of a startling ruling by a California state appeals court that a good mother can have her parental rights eliminated, Randy Thomasson, president of the pro-family organization SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement:

"This frightening ruling sets a terrible precedent that the government can subjectively remove children from good parents. But God gave children to parents, not to the State. This unfortunate decision should be reversed, not only because it violates the bright line between the jurisdiction of the family and the jurisdiction of the government, but because the court had other options.

"There are some youths who are truly 'bad apples,' and there are others who engage in self-destructive behavior to try to fill the void of a missing father. But whether children are good, bad, or in between, heaven forbid that the government destroy the fundamental parental rights of non-abusive fathers and mothers. Government can't fix all the world's problems, which is why the Savior Jesus Christ came into the world."
