7/2/12: Crazy California bill would 'blow up the family unit'

SAVECALIFORNIA.COM NEWS RELEASE

July 2, 2012 -- For Immediate Release

Crazy California Bill Would 'Blow Up The Family Unit'
SaveCalifornia.com says SB 1476 is Democrats' latest attack on children and families

Sacramento, California -- A bill that would expand the number of legal parents a child could have has passed the Democrat-controlled California State Senate and is being opposed by SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good.

According to the Senate floor analysis, SB 1476 "provides that a child may have a parent-child relationship...with more than two parents," "requires the court to allocate custody and visitation among the parents" and "requires, in the case of a child with more than two legal parents, the court to divide child support obligations among the parents."

SaveCalifornia.com President Randy Thomasson has issued the following statement:

"It's a shame that a hard case is being used to push for a bad law. The lesbian who claimed to be a mother when she was not is no justification for judges to invent a 'third parent,' which will only confuse children all the more.

"SB 1476 isn't necessary because judges already have the duty and discretion to do what is in the best interest of the child. If both parents are neglectful or otherwise out of the picture, the judge should award custody to grandparents or other relatives, not create a 'third parent' out of thin air. Adoptions should also be made easier. But hard cases make bad law, and this bad bill should be stopped, if not in the state Assembly, by citizens demanding a veto from the Governor.

"A biological parent is either the father who provided the human sperm or the mother who provided the human egg for God's miracle of procreation. If a biological parent abdicates his or her responsibilities for the child, an adoptive parent or custodial adult should take over and the current system provides for that.

"SB 1476 would blow up the family unit by redefining 'father' and 'mother,' and contribute to the demise of family stability. Talk about the bad influence of government, or in this case, Democrat-run government, because only Democrat politicians voted for this.

"SB 1476 would create law based on feelings, not law based on human responsibility. If non-parents can be awarded parental status, this will multiply the existing conflicts and caseloads in family court, and will confuse children all the more, with split families that don't happen upon divorce, but occur upon birth.

"Children do best with a married father and mother under the same roof. The vast bulk of social science evidence demonstrates that children's health, education, and behavior are better in traditional father-mother households. In contrast, children raised in homosexual households have starkly different outcomes, with those children, as adults, experimenting with homosexually at a noticeably higher rate than children raised in traditional father-mother households. In lesbian households, girls also fornicate earlier and boys become emasculated." (Source: "Homosexual Parenting Studies Are Flawed, Report Says")

7/17/12: No SB 48 repeal, but children can still escape 'LGBT' role models

SAVECALIFORNIA.COM NEWS RELEASE

July 17, 2012 -- For Immediate Release

No SB 48 repeal, but children can still escape 'LGBT' role models
SaveCalifornia.com urges parents to remove kids from 'sexual indoctrination agencies'

ALERT: Parents, see your solutions and 10 reasons to take decisive action now »

Sacramento, California -- In light of the failure to qualify a ballot measure to circumvent a controversial state law, SB 48, which requires homosexual-bisexual-transsexual role models in California K-12 schools, SaveCalifornia.com -- which fought against this anti-family bill and has been continually urging parents to remove their children from the state government school system due to SB 48, seven other sexual indoctrination laws, and nine other major concerns -- hopes that even more parents and grandparents will now take action to protect their vulnerable children.

SB 48, signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2011, mandates that children from kindergarten through 12th grade, in all "instruction in social sciences," admire "the role and contributions of...lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans."

On July 16, the 150-day deadline to turn in sufficient signatures to county registrars of voters, a spokesperson for the Stop SB 48 campaign said roughly 446,000 raw-count signatures had been gathered by volunteers. However, at least 700,000 to 750,000 raw-count signatures are currently needed to qualify any statutory initiative for the California ballot on a full-count basis and at least 750,000 to 800,000 raw-count signatures are needed to qualify on a random-sample basis. This is because of the typical rate for signatures gathered by volunteers to be invalid -- due to signers that are unregistered or have changed their addresses or make mistakes while signing.

"Parents and grandparents who don't want their children and grandchildren sexually indoctrinated with unnatural and unhealthy 'lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender' role models must decide now to exit the immoral, imploding, dysfunctional government school system and place their children in church schools or home schools," said Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a leading California-based family issues policy center which promotes moral virtues for the common good. "This is no time to be indecisive, since you only have one chance with your child's education. Because of SB 48 and seven other homosexual-bisexual-transsexual indoctrination laws, California K-12 government schools have become radical sexual indoctrination agencies."

The figures reported for this statutory initiative effort -- 446,000 raw-count signatures collected during the 150-day time interval -- were less than the reported 497,404 raw-count signatures collected by the Stop SB 48 campaign last year during the shorter 90-day time period allowed for ballot referenda.

California initiative experts cannot remember any ballot measure in recent decades that has qualified with signatures primarily gathered by volunteers. The Stop SB 48 committee's second failure to qualify demonstrates the necessity of typically raising at least $1 million from major donors to get started -- as well as analyzing, developing consensus on, and vetting effective, rock-solid ballot language. All this must be done prior to submitting ballot language to the Attorney General for official title and summary, which is then followed by 150 days that are permitted to attempt to gather sufficient signatures to qualify a statutory initiative or constitutional amendment for the California ballot. A constitutional amendment on this issue and other child-protection issues is required to trump the liberal California Supreme Court.

7/21/12: Statement on 'LGBT' military desecration in San Diego

SAVECALIFORNIA.COM NEWS RELEASE

July 21, 2012 -- For Immediate Release

Pro-Family Statement on 'LGBT' Military Desecration in San Diego
Thomasson: "The respect for the uniform...has been dirtied and besmirched"

Sacramento, California -- In response to the Obama administration's policy change permitting military personnel to march uniformed in today's San Diego homosexual-bisexual-transsexual "pride" parade, Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a longtime family issues organization which promotes moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement:

"The respect for the uniform and the selfless standards it represents has been dirtied and besmirched by the Obama administration at the behest of sexual anarchists and their personal political agenda. Veterans, those with military in their family, and our enemies overseas now view a U.S. uniform with less honor.

"The uniform has always identified members as part of a military unit. But now the uniform means taking the honor of the military, misusing it, and parading it around for a militant 'LGBT' agenda. The purpose of the military is to defend our nation as one selfless unit, not to allow individuals to misuse military uniforms for personal glorification. This is a dark day for the U.S. military and another reason why God is not blessing America."

7/20/12: Pro-family statement on movie theater mass murder

SAVECALIFORNIA.COM NEWS RELEASE

July 20, 2012 -- For Immediate Release

Pro-family Statement on Mass Murder
'Why were 12 people murdered and 59 others shot up?' Sin + glorification of violence

Sacramento, California -- In response to the July 20 mass murder at an Aurora, Colorado movie theater, Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a leading family issues organization promoting moral virtues for the common good, issued the following statement:

"Why were 12 people murdered and 59 others shot up by a 24-year-old from San Diego? The main motive for murder is always sin -- disobeying and hating God and God's creation of people. The Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, identified murder as a sin that proceeds from the heart. (See Mark 7:21-23)

"This senseless mass murderer was also obviously inspired by an evil role model named 'The Joker,' who was glorified in the 2008 film, 'The Dark Knight,' and who was the 'top act' in the publicity surrounding this widely-seen movie. Art indeed influences life, and violence glorified in the media definitely impacts our culture in dark ways. The research proves it. (See "Media Violence: The Effects Are Both Real and Strong," American Behavioral Scientist, April 2008)

"Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. Sadly, because of our culture's disinterest in loving God and Hollywood 's surpassing interest in glorifying violence, children and families continue to be at risk."

7/30/12: Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on August 1

SAVECALIFORNIA.COM NEWS ADVISORY

July 30, 2012 -- For Immediate Release

Californians for real marriage to eat Wednesday at Chick-fil-A
Chick-fil-A is Ground Zero for man-woman marriage in California

Sacramento, California -- Californians who believe in the sacred and natural institution of marriage between one man and one woman will "vote with their dollars" in support of real marriage at Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Golden State on Wednesday, August 1.

"Ever since Mike Huckabee called on pro-marriage Americans to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday to support owner Dan Cathy's championing of natural marriage between one man and one woman, Californians have been eager to 'vote with their dollars' to show that most voters still want marriage licenses for real marriage -- marriage between a man and a woman," said Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good.

SaveCalifornia.com has been urging pro-marriage citizens to make a statement by eating at Chick-fil-A on August 1, "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." While marriage between a man and a woman is natural and healthy, homosexuality, according to the evidence, is neither.

"Because homosexual activists have been demonstrating their intolerance and prejudice against Chick-fil-A and real marriage, supporters of the natural family are stepping up for man-woman marriage in a very public way by eating at Chick-fil-A," Thomasson said.

There are 52 Chick-fil-A restaurants in California. See locations
