Some good news in California’s election results

Counting votes in Los Angeles County in November 2018

In our era of mail-in ballots, there are still many votes to be counted in California. But here’s what we know so far, at this moment, with 100% of California’s voting precincts partially reporting:

U.S. House of Representatives:
Nationally, it will take 18 seats to flip from blue to red for Republicans to recapture the U.S. House and remove Nancy Pelosi’s gavel. Already 5 House seats outside of California have flipped, and RealClearPolitics says “Republicans Poised to Pick Up Over Ten Seats in House”

Adding to this national count are 1 to 4 flipped seats that could still occur in California. Here are the updated vote totals as of 6:21 p.m. on November 4:

  • In CD 21, Republican David Valadao is 3,033 votes ahead of Democrat TJ Cox
  • In CD 48, Republican Michelle Steel is 2,851 votes ahead of Democrat Harley Rouda
  • In CD 39, Republican Young Kim is 1,503 votes ahead of Democrat Gil Cisneros
  • In CD 25, Republican Mike Garcia is 1,722 votes behind Democrat Christy Smith

See the ongoing count

Worst California propositions defeated:
In California, it was a victory for what’s right in God’s sight when Proposition 22 resoundingly won freedom for gig-economy drivers (Uber, Lyft, Doordash, Postmates, Instacart) to work as independent contractors, rather than as employees. This victory paves the way for the eventual elimination of the Democrat politicians’ destructive, dysfunctional, and tyrannical AB 5.

More good news is the worst propositions are current losing:

  • Prop. 15 raising property taxes of commercial and industrial properties
  • Prop. 16 legalizing both racial and sex discrimination in government jobs
  • Prop. 21 statewide rent control (would have resulted in fewer places to rent)
  • Prop. 23 oppressive regulation of kidney dialysis (would have resulted in fewer clinics)
  • Prop. 25 eliminating money bail system

See the ongoing count

And now the bad news:
Due to lack of money to inform California voters on a massive scale, Prop. 20 was defeated. This good, corrective proposition would have made our streets safer by restricting early parole for more violent crimes, and by permitting more mostly non-violent crimes to be treated as felonies, rather than misdemeanors.

Bad propositions that passed because most people didn’t know what they were voting for:

  • Prop. 14 to spend $7.8 BILLION in taxpayer dollars for more research on dead pre-born babies’ stem cells, which has been an utter, unethical failure
  • Prop. 17 to permit tens of thousands of convicts who were released early (paroled) to vote
  • Prop. 19 to impose taxes when non-primary-residential property is inherited
  • Prop. 24 to create a new online privacy bureaucracy that’s likely to make things worse

Thank you for voting and for helping others to vote. California’s results could have been worse, and could have been better. But SaveCalifornia.com knows it was better because of your patriotic participation!

The latest evidence on face coverings

Sunday, November 1, 2020, 12:25 pm | Randy Thomasson

The big world powers are telling you to wear a face covering. Are they wrong? Let’s follow the evidence where it leads. Here’s what Big Pharma, Big Government, Big Media, and Big Tech aren’t telling you:

E-MASK-ulation: How we have been lied to so dramatically about masks
What did the scientific literature say before the issue became political?

Danish newspaper reveals largest study on masks has been rejected by 3 medical journals
Why not just conduct a randomized controlled trial to test whether masks work against COVID-19? Why assume such a draconian and dehumanizing mandate works as if it’s an article of faith and create such division when we can discover which side is correct? That’s what a group of Danish researchers felt, which is why, over the spring, they conducted such a study. So why have the results not been published, three months later? According to one Danish newspaper, the study has been rejected by three medical journals because the results are too controversial.

Science says face masks don’t protect you from Covid
Ask yourself — are the authorities following the science on face masks? In February and March, the WHO, the CDC, and the U.S. Surgeon General all said face masks won’t protect you from catching Covid – or the flu. And in May, a study of studies on the CDC website found (quote) “improper use [of masks] might increase the risk for transmission” of Covid. It’s logical, right? If you use the same face mask every day, breathing into it, touching it with your hands, then touching doorknobs and other things – you’re spreading your “ick” to others. Think about how people infected with Covid are using masks to spread their “ick.” And this “improper” behavior is happening all over America. Now, more people are learning about a new study, posted on the CDC website, found that 84 percent of people wearing masks all or most of the time still became infected with Covid.

On a personal note, I just reclaimed more of my God-given liberty, improved my character, and got new shoes at the same time. You see, I’m very frugal. But I really needed new shoes, since the disappearing cushioning of my old shoes was beginning to hurt my heels (about every five years, I try to buy a new pair of these New Balance training shoes).

But I didn’t realize Big 5 Sporting Goods was unscientifically and tyrannically requiring masks without exception, I walked in their store without my CDPH list of exemptions (which includes when a mask obstructed breathing, which I claim and everybody else can clam too). Walking past the cashier, I announced “I have an exemption,” and proceeded directly to the shoes in the back.

Soon, a tall, heavy-set manager appeared and said I couldn’t shop without a face covering. Using his first name (I look at name tags), I said the state recognizes my exemption, so will Big 5 also recognize my exemption? He said no. I then I asked whether this was a county, state, or store policy. He said he didn’t know. I held out my old shoes to him (I had taken them off), and said I was just there to buy these shoes again and did they have my size. Relenting, he looked at the label on my old shoes, walked over to a shoe cabinet about 15 feet away, and quickly found the right shoes in my size.

He then tried to get me out of the store by suggesting I could buy the shoes, and if they didn’t fit, I could bring them back. I countered by saying I needed to try them at the front door. So I followed him up front and donned the new shoes and walked in them back and forth, inside the store between the casher’s area and the front door. When I had finished my walking and testing, I said I’ll buy them, but the manager was nowhere to be seen (I’m guessing he didn’t like my firm but friendly leadership). So I bought them from the cashier and walked out with my new shoes on.

Five years of heavy use (and rarely unlacing before inserting my feet) makes for some beat-up shoes. I’m glad Big 5 still wanted my money for new shoes!

I believe this worked because I a) claimed my exemption, b) refused to take no for an answer, c) asked the store employee to find me just one item, and d) demanded an optional way to inspect the item. And I kept something in mind – that these stores’ #1 goal is to make money, and that they wanted mine. So if you use these tactics, and be firm, friendly, creative, and stubborn, perhaps you can win too. See my general mask strategies here.

Until his neighbor comes and examines him.

Chipping away at the lockdown wall

Saturday, October 17, 2020, 11:35 am | Randy Thomasson
Portion of the Berlin Wall being torn down by West Germans in 1989, while East German soldiers watch from the other side

California’s Democrat tyrants and establishment “Republicans” have redefined “reopen” as 10% or 25% capacity. But already-hurt small businesses can’t survive on that. Sadly, most California pastors are afraid to fully reopen for ministry. Meanwhile, the non-academic, sexual-indoctrinating government “teacher union” bosses have made it clear they want President Donald Trump defeated more than reopening for in-person classroom instruction.

But the good news is the lockdown lies are breaking down, showing “the emperor has no clothes.” See how the WHO, certain California school boards, and even Democrat mayors are helping!

1. Government-imposed lockdowns are unnecessary and harmful

WHO warns against COVID-19 lockdowns due to economic damage and Health official calls for halting lockdowns (10/8/20)

Dr. David Nabarro, the World Health Organization’s special covid-19 envoy: “We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus …  The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.

“Lockdowns just have one consequence that you must never, ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer … Just look at what’s happened to the tourism industry in the Caribbean, for example, or in the Pacific because people aren’t taking their holidays … Look what’s happened to smallholder farmers all over the world. Look what’s happening to poverty levels. It seems that we may well have a doubling of world poverty by next year. We may well have at least a doubling of child malnutrition.”

See how Democrat Governor Gavin Newom is killing a small city’s economy

2. California’s school lockdown wall has been breached

Remember 1989 when the Berlin Wall was slowly, then quickly, chipped away and eventually knocked down? That needs to happen — and is starting to happen — with California’s unscientific, unproven, tyrannical lockdown. This week, the lockdown “wall” of two of California’s largest government-school districts was breached when both school boards permitted special-needs children to enjoy in-person classes with a teacher and other children. This reopening for some wins the argument for reopening for all. Because if it’s “safe” for deaf and other disabled children to have in-person public-school classes again, it can’t be “unsafe” for other children to also go “back to school.” Of course, the unscientific, anti-family teacher unions hate any breach of their artificial wall of schools that get paid for not working.

Two big school districts, San Diego and Sacramento, move to permit special-needs students back for in-person classes: San DiegoSacramento

While SaveCalifornia.com and I want children out of the government schools and into home schools or Bible-based church schools, if parents won’t rescue their children, then children returning to government schools will hasten the end of the lockdown (which is what the anti-family teacher unions oppose). When schools reopen, parents will go back to work, and the lockdown will quickly lose its hold. This reality will overcome even Gavin Newsom!

3. California’s big city mayors urge the quick reopening of in-person schools: More cracks in the lockdown wall. This week, while San Diego and Sacramento counties’ school boards voted to permit “special needs” children to receive in-person, group-oriented, classroom instruction, mayors of 13 big cities in California (including the Democrat mayors of Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento), are urging Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom to reopen schools.

This is significant. The mayors’ October 14 letter urges Newsom to order the reopening of in-person classrooms for “1) students with special needs, 2) Title 1 students in areas of highest poverty concentrations, 3) children of essential workers; and, 4) students who have experienced homeless and/or youth in the foster/kin care system, and 5) early learners (K-2nd grade).”

Notably, the mayors’ letter implied they’re concerned about parents leaving the government-run schools for private and home schools, stating, “we are seeing private and parochial schools open much more quickly potentially increasing the disparities between well-resourced and under-resourced schools.”

My takeaways

First, most of these mayors are Democrats and their public voice for reopening government-run schools is certain to be considered by Newsom.

Second, if some children are allowed to go “back to schools,” there are very strong legal arguments for all children to return (unless their parents rescue them from the government system).

Third, once government schools reopen, many parents working from home will go back to work, and this will all hasten the end of the lockdown.

ACTION: Keep resisting this unscientific, unmerited, tyrannical lockdown

As for effectiveness of attending anti-lockdown, pro-liberty rallies and protests, it’s two-fold:

1. Every time you individually study or collectively get educated about why your God-given and constitutional liberties matter, your character, knowledge, and resolve improve. You also become stimulated to invite your friends to stand for liberty, at future events.

2. Every public protest is an opportunity to lobby for an end to the lockdown. Your audiences are county supervisors and the general public. Without earned media, you can have modest influence upon county supervisors who might see your protest outside their windows or otherwise hear about it. Without earned media, you can also video your own event and show that to others via email, blog, social media, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

Yet the most effective way to rally is to “earn media” and therefore reach the public and turn more people against the tyrannical, non-scientific establishment that is hurting real people. Aim for this by inviting TV, radio, and newspapers to cover your event, and working for this “earned media” as much as, or more than, you invite your friends and acquaintances.

So, participating in an anti-lockdown, pro-liberty event actually has four benefits: improve your character, improve your friends’ characters, change minds through your own media, and change minds through “earned media.” Let’s keep persevering and outrun the tyrants!

Lastly, I want to reiterate my strong desire for loving parents to protect their children from 11 statewide school sexual indoctrination laws, terrible peer pressure, and dumbed-down “teaching” by permanently removing their precious boys and girls from the non-academic, dysfunctional, godless government schools. However, if these awful facts plus months of lockdown misery haven’t yet motivated parents to home school or church school their children, let the reopening of government schools serve to help end the lockdown as a whole.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free,
and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
