Who will be the next governor of California?

Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 8:07 pm |

SaveCalifornia.com does not support or oppose candidates for public office, and provides the following information solely for educational purposes.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the former head of the ACLU of Southern California, former Speaker of the California Assembly, and former husband before his wife divorced him over his chronic adultery, says he won’t run for Governor of California in 2010.

This leaves two top contenders for the Democratic nomination: California Attorney General and former governor Jerry Brown vs. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.

On the subject of respecting marriage for a man and a woman, Newsom was reelected mayor in 2007 despite his affair with a married woman. More than any mayor in the state or nation, Newsom has led the charge for homosexual “marriages” in the courts, the law and the culture.

What about the other candidates? Jerry Brown also supports homosexual “marriages,” trying to strike down Prop. 8 at the California Supreme Court, and now calling for Prop. 8 to be struck down in federal court.

On the Republican side, major contenders Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman both say they voted yes on Prop. 8. Poizner also says he’s “fine with domestic partnerships and all.”  Whitman says she supports the court validating 18,000 homosexual “marriages,” and also supports homosexual adoptions and homosexual “civil unions” with all the rights of married spouses

Second-rung Republican contenders include former congressman and state senator Tom Campbell, who has been a prominate voice in favor of homosexual “marriages” and against Prop. 8. Another possible Republican candidate is Ventura County supervisor Peter Foy, who supports marriage licenses and marriage rights for only a man and a woman.

Given that 52.3% of California voters said marriage should only be between “a man and a woman” last November, will they remain consistent on this point when voting for their next governor?

But Israel has rejected what is good;
       an enemy will pursue him.
They set up kings without my consent;
they choose princes without my approval.
       With their silver and gold
       they make idols for themselves
       to their own destruction.

After your Father’s Day cards are opened

Sunday, June 21, 2009, 2:04 pm |

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 NLT

How successful a father are you? Take this online test from the National Center for Fathering.

I give the highest human honor to fathers. Like the general of an army or the captain of a ship, fathers are the most important person in the family unit. They are the leaders, whether they know it or not!

Dads are the anchor for the children. Dads are bigger, stronger, louder and have the ability to be the most decisive and active parent. It’s the male distinctive.

When I meet a couple or a family, I first address the father, look him in the eye, and talk with him. I honor him as the captain of his children’s hearts. He will steer them well or not well or disastrously. To steer them well, he needs to intentionally love and lead, train and teach. To steer them badly, he doesn’t need to lift a finger. Such is the power of a father.

Dad, I want to remind you of something important. Basically, I want to remind you of your purpose. Receiving cards and words of appreciation on Father’s Day is one thing. But it’s entirely another thing to be a good father who trains good character in your children.

It’s a fact that today’s generation is the worst morally that America has ever had. From back-talking to self-indulgence to lack of empathy to addictions to food, pre-marital sexual activity, video games, music, internet chat rooms, gambling, alcohol and drugs, today’s teens are setting records in immorality and self-destructiveness. Yes, even in “Christian” families.

Bill Gothard, founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles has said, “What the parents allow in moderation, the children will allow in excess.”

So if parents live close to the cliff, their children will fall over the cliff. Conversely, if parents consistently try to avoid sin and love God, their children will do an even better job avoiding sin and loving God.

America needs the next generation to be much better, don’t you agree? For if America doesn’t repent of its sins — beginning with you and me in our homes — God will hold us all responsible. We may already be seeing His hand of punishment.

Dad, here’s your assignment if you choose to accept it:

It’s time for courage. For conviction. For faith. To secure and inspire your children, you need to constantly grow as a father. You need to understand your role. It’s to be the main trainer of your children’s character and behavior.

Deep down, you are needed to quench the deep thirst that your child has for you. An unmet father-thirst is why boys join gangs and girls hook up with older men. Give your children the “father water” they thirst for. Become a highly functional father who leaves a legacy with your children that makes them and our society better, not worse.

Dad, I challenge you to make becoming a better father your desire, your plan, and your new lifestyle. Commit to grow in this way, then tell your wife your plan and ask for her support. If you say you love your kids, your growth as a father isn’t an option, it’s an imperative. How do you grow? You first start by shrinking yourself.

A good father is a man who is in control of his home with the positive strength and love of God. He has a committed relationship with God. He reads the Bible with his family and prays with them. He is living out his faith, not contradicting it, as his children watch and learn. This is how to have peace and respect in your home.

How do you become a functional father? And how do you grow from being a functional father to a highly functional father who receives the praise of God, his wife and his children, and leaves a measurable legacy?

Get resources and training from the National Center for Fathering. A good first step is to take a simple test that will tell you how you’re doing as a father.

Be courageous. Be loving. Remember, this isn’t about your feelings. It’s about your children’s hearts, minds and futures. Change yourself…to build your kids…to become what they were created to be…adults of impeccable character…who love and serve the Lord.

What kind of father are you? Take this online test from the National Center for Fathering.

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse. Malachi 4:6 NIV

Homosexual legislators say pro-family values = “hate” and “stupidity”

Thursday, June 18, 2009, 10:25 am |

You didn’t hear this on TV, but the homosexual special-interest bill pressuring California government schools to hold an annual “Harvey Milk Gay Day” has passed another Democrat-controlled committee.

SB 572 would openly promote homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality to children as young as five years old. There is no parental permission required and no opt-out allowed.

Wednesday’s vote in the Assembly Education Committee was predictable. Only Democrats voted for and spoke in favor of SB 572. The Republican committee members were no help at all — they were absent during the bill’s hearing!

Sitting a few feet from the bill’s author, Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco, I witnessed great insecurity from him and fellow homosexual Tom Ammiano, a committee member. After I and others testified why SB 572 was wrong, Ammiano and Leno launched into a tirade against the “words” and “hate” and “ignorance” and “stupidity” of me and other pro-family opponents of SB 572. Bad behavior seems easier when no TV cameras or Republican legislators are in the room!

Read about it in our June 17 news release.

TAKE ACTION NOW

Please call Arnold Schwarzenegger to urge his veto of SB 572, “Harvey Milk Gay Day.” You can email and call him and your California state legislators here.

The problem is, there’s a virtual media blackout on this horrible bill. Despite SaveCalifornia.com sending out news advisories inviting the media to the hearing, there were no TV cameras in the room.

As I write to you, the only media coverage has been from KGO-TV in San Francisco, which did this short story. And this only because I told the reporter, who was interviewing me about President Obama giving marriage benefits to homosexual federal employees, that she should also cover the “Gay Day” bill which had just passed committee.

So please do your part to expose “Harvey Milk Gay Day.”  Tell everyone you know about this very bad bill that would pressure every public school to openly promote homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality to kids. Tell them to call Arnold Schwarzenegger to urge his veto at 916-445-2841.

This is a very sobering situation. With the Democrat legislators virtually unanimous in their support of sexually indoctrinating children, California’s socially-liberal yet aiming-to-be-popular “Republican” governor is the only practical backstop. So please call him at 916-445-2841. Schwarzenegger vetoed the same bill last year and could do so again if he receives a flood of renewed opposition to SB 572.
