Do you realize that the environmental wacko groups are the pimps, and Democrat Party politicians are their prostitutes? It’s been happening for a long time now.
And with environmental wackos as appointed “rule-makers” on the California Energy Commission, along with the rate-hikers on the California Public Utilities Commission, no Californian is safe from their anti-people, thieving reach.
You need to understand why this is happening.
First, this isn’t about the Democrat-Party-controlled “California Energy Commission” wanting to save you money. No, it’s this leftist, socialist Newsom-appointed commission’s admiration for the “California Public Utilities Commission” jacking up Californians’ costs of electricity, natural gas, and water.
So now, Gavin Newsom’s “energy commission” is hiking the cost of your tires, automobile insurance, and more. All because, as they argue, less-efficient tires result in lower mileage, which results in more refueling, which produces more dubious “carbon dioxide emissions.” So, for your own so-called “good,” they will decide your tires!
Second, because of the environmental wacko groups’ agenda of lessening and eventually eliminating any use or dependence on oil, the Democrat Party’s war on oil has put people’s free-will choices, money, and practical needs last, and put their false “utopia” first, where the worship of trees and American Indians and immorality has replaced God’s Creation with man as the ruler, manager, and cultivator of natural resources.
So don’t believe for a second that Democrat-Party-controlled California Energy Commission cares about you, or wants to save you money. These deceptions are to be expected from New Communist Democrats, just like Communism’s founder, Karl Marx, falsely promising that a violent overthrow of free enterprise would meet people’s “needs.”
You can lay blame for this tyrannical, anti-people tire policy squarely at Gavin Newsom’s feet. For he appointed all five Democrats on the Commission, including, in May 2025, environmental wacko kingpin Nancy Skinner of Berkeley, the leftist soldier who pushed to restrict Californians’ tires as her crowning, first-in-the-nation achievement.

The new, restrictive tire requirements will be enforced in 2029 (check out this link, revealing that Michelin wholeheartedly supports this). It will be very difficult for a mostly-conservative governor (such as Steve Hilton) to roll back this tyrannical tire “rule.”
Because nothing in California law permits governors to fire non-administration public officials, such as members of the California Energy Commission, who “serve” five-year terms. Therefore, in 2029, when my better, safer premium tires aren’t permitted to be sold in California, I’m planning to buy them online or, if needed, travel out of state for them.

All 5 members of the “California Energy Commission” were appointed by Democrat Party Governor Gavin Newsom, and all were confirmed by the Democrat-Party-controlled California State Senate.
Their new rule would ELIMINATE premium tires that provide a quieter, more comfortable ride, with better grip on wet roads and turns, thus improving safety.
Bottom line: By banning premium tires, which grip more and do better on wet roads, Californians will incur more injuries and deaths via automobile accidents.

Tire manufacturers and the commission’s staff are at odds over whether this will add to the cost of living in the state. Both sides acknowledged this will no longer allow the sale of a significant portion of the tires currently sold in California.
At the center of this is a tire’s rolling resistance, or how much energy a tire uses as it rolls down the road. Lower resistance means a vehicle uses less gas or electricity. New cars come with generally efficient tires, but consumers typically replace those with higher rolling resistance tires.
Bret Gladfelty, on behalf of Goodyear, told the commission that this will increase costs for consumers and said the commission had yet to resolve technical and legal issues with the rules.
In a letter to the CEC, Gladfelty had questioned the data the CEC released to the public about the cost of new tires, noting that while the commission says the price increases average about $6.50 per tire in phase 2, Gladfelty warned increase costs could actually end up being in the several hundreds of dollars.
Gladfelty told KCRA 3 this new rule will eliminate an estimated 70% of the tires currently sold in California by 2033, which the California Energy Commission has also acknowledged and has not denied.
Combustible fuels remain the primary engine of civilization, and they’re not going anywhere for at least the next several decades. Despite this unavoidable fact, California’s in-state oil industry is already on the verge of implosion. The results are easily quantifiable. Well production in the oil rich state has fallen from over 400 million barrels per year in the 1980s to barely more than 100 million barrels per year in 2024. A major distribution pipeline from fields in Kern County to Northern California refineries was shut down in late 2025 because there wasn’t enough oil left to permit the pipeline to physically move oil through it, nor enough to make it possible for the operators to break even. Additional regulatory harassment has driven two of California’s major refineries to cease operations, leaving existing refinery capacity insufficient to meet demand. Californians now import 75 percent of their crude oil and, by some reports, now have to import 20 percent of their gasoline from refineries in Asia.
