Sacramento, California (February 26, 2018) -- In response to "moderate" Republican Doug Ose exiting the California governor's race, Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a leading family issues organization supporting moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement:

"Doug Ose's egocentric testing of the waters is over, which gives Californians a greater chance of having a real choice for governor in November. The problem is, our state's experiment with an 'open primary' has proven to reduce voters' choices. So now, for Californians to be able to choose between a status-quo Democrat and a reformist Republican, either Travis Allen or John Cox should drop out.

"Because it's unlikely, in the two short months remaining before early voting begins, for one of them to naturally rise to the top. How many pro-family citizens know about Travis Allen's repeated abstentions on resolutions celebrating the abortion industry? And how many folks know that John Cox has never held elective office? The hard math says, for a Republican to be on the November 2018 ballot for governor, either Allen or Cox must do the loving, other-centered thing and drop out. Then voters could clearly choose between 'right' and 'wrong,' as they see it, for governor and the laws we must live under."
