Election aftermath: Will California conservatives fight or take flight?

Behavioral experts describe it as freeze, fight, and flight. These are three possible responses — a combination of God-given and environmentally-shaped emotions — that rise up within us when we perceive a danger. The danger may be true or false — but initially, we’re going to either freeze, fight, or take flight.

No matter your initial reaction to the just-concluded Midterm Elections, please join me in fighting. Because when evil dominates, it must be exposed and resisted. God always wants His people to steadfastly defend all that is good, right, and true. I aim to do that — how about you?

Here are 3 important things to know, which matter for your values:

1. Nationally, this election was very good news:

a. In the 100-member United States Senate, the Republicans have increased. They’ve gone from 51 to 52 in number, and could go to 53 if Martha McSally wins in Arizona, and up to 54 if Cindy Hyde-Smith wins Mississippi’s U.S. Senate special election on November 27.

b. The Senate Republicans have become more constitutional. Strong conservatives have replaced wishy-washy Republicans such as Bob Corker, Dean Heller, John McCain (and if Martha McSally pulls it off, Jeff Flake). This principled increase means hundreds of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees will have no problem being confirmed, despite any grumblings from pro-abortion Republicans Lisa Murkowski of Alaska or Susan Collins of Maine. And given that 85-year-old ACLU anti-religious-freedom, pro-abortion attorney Ruth Bader Ginsburg might be next to depart the nation’s high court, the Senate’s confirmation of yet another constitutionalist/originalist to replace her is imperative.

c. The Democrats’ outrageous personal attack upon U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh backfired. In the Senate battleground states of North Dakota, Indiana, Missouri, West Virginia, and Florida, all the anti-Kavanaugh votes were booted out of office, while pro-Kavanaugh Democrat Joe Manchin of West Virginia survived).

d. The loss of the U.S. House of Representatives to the Democrats was not as bad as it could have been. What’s more, the final count shows President Trump is more popular than President Obama. This election, Republicans have so far lost 30 House seats, but gained seats in the U.S. Senate. This is much better than Obama fared. As The Daily Signal (Heritage Foundation) reports: “The first midterm election under President Barack Obama in 2010 was a major electoral defeat for Democrats. Republicans gained 63 seats in the House of Representatives and six seats in the Senate while making significant gains in state houses and gubernatorial elections. The balance of power shifted Tuesday night, but not as drastically as Democrats had hoped.”

e. The Democrats winning back the U.S. House wasn’t because evil is too strong, but because Republican leadership was foolish. Moral conservative leaders with decades of wise experience held a post-election news conference to explain that the campaign advice of Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield, California to run on local rather than national issues failed to energize conservatives. SaveCalifornia.com agrees. Members of the U.S. House of Representatives are all about national issues anyway; they should be teachers and cheerleaders for issues of national importance that capture the public’s attention. Why do Democrats in Congress seem to understand this better than some Republican candidates?

2. SaveCalifornia.com’s mission is still for your cherished family values:

Despite the Democrat politicians’ union-funded grip* upon the State of California, our Campaign for Children and Families has survived three governors already (Gray Davis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jerry Brown). And with God’s help and yours, we’re committed to survive, expose, and oppose the guaranteed wicked policies of Gavin Newsom that harm individuals and families.

* So far this year, government unions have donated $13.8 million and private unions have donated $20.8 million to Democrat candidates in California: https://bit.ly/2JOMLyN and https://bit.ly/2SU1yfP

Our Campaign for Children and Families promise to you:

a. We’ll keep shining our light for positive truth for children and families
b. We’ll keep exposing the darkness so people who listen will stop being deceived
c. We’ll keep training constitutional patriots to do good in their families and communities

I need to know you want to fight rather than take flight.

Because every loss is an opportunity to learn how to be and do better. And given the myriad of public policy problems caused by California’s ruling Democrats, now is the time to expose them. Please realize that simply running from a problem tends to make us insensitive to love, responsibility, and solutions. Because love doesn’t drop out; it presses in and sacrificially gives.

3. California is in a dynamic and the Democrat-union grip can indeed weaken:

Lastly, I believe California is in a dynamic. Look at history. Communism was dismantled in Eastern Europe because it went against God-given human nature. Likewise, some governorships on the east coast of the U.S. have flipped in the last few years from Democrat to Republican (think Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont).

And this election, a big liberal “environmental group” bond (Prop. 3) went down in California, to the frustration of liberal operatives. What’s more, an anti-establishment, academic reformer, Marshall Tuck, might become California’s state school chief. And we’re just beginning to see union membership dropping since the June 2018 U.S. Supreme Court Janus decision affirming the free-speech right of government employees to not have their money coerced away by power-hungry union bosses. Remember, Liberalism doesn’t work; when pressure is applied, it can indeed break down.

Meanwhile, it’s clear to me that a lot of professing Christians (especially younger adults) and a lot of frustrated conservatives (also the younger ones) don’t vote. I keep meeting them. Now, can you imagine what a well-articulated conservative voter registration drive campaign in communities could do? And what if Christian church denominations held voter registration drives in all their member churches, which then would internally lobby churchgoers to “get out the vote” in the big 2020 presidential election? And what if Campaign for Children and Families received confidential pro-family donations totaling $1 million to powerfully promote your values statewide through cost-effective media buys?

Finally, what if major conservative donors had given the gas tax repeal (Prop. 6) $10 million to show California voters convincing messages like SaveCalifornia.com produced? And what if John Cox had also received $10 million to blanket TV, radio, newspapers, and the internet with months of his ads exposing obvious problems caused by Democrat politicians? We might have a profoundly different Governor-Elect today.

I believe the time to invest in California is now, because liberal policies are ripe for taking down. As famed investor Warren Buffett said, “Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.” This certainly applies to the ruling Democrats’ house of cards. If convincing evidence can be creatively presented, it opens people’s eyes. I’ve seen this happen individually, so why not change minds on a grand scale?

Thank you for reading this and thinking about the dynamic culture we live in and how you, with your faithful, principled stand, can make an impact. Thank you for standing strong for your moral values with SaveCalifornia.com and our ongoing Campaign for Children and Families!

Yes, illegal immigration harms your family

Friday, March 9, 2018, 2:21 pm | Randy Thomasson

How does illegal immigration harm you, your children and grandchildren? You need to know.

The California Democrats’ so-called “sanctuary” law has collided with the U.S. Constitution and federal law, which is being enforced by the Trump Administration’s federal raids in California and federal lawsuits in U.S. district courts in California.

This very public issue requires a moral response from all of us — what’s right and what’s wrong? Please read four reasons why illegals harm you, your family, and our nation.

1. Loving your neighbor includes physically protecting people at home and nearby. Yet illegal aliens have caused more crimes in our state and nation:

In L.A., “dozens of members of a ruthless Salvadoran prison gang have sneaked back into town after having been deported for such crimes as murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and drug trafficking. Police officers know who they are and know that their mere presence in the country is a felony. Yet should a cop arrest an illegal gangbanger for felonious reentry, it is he who will be treated as a criminal, for violating the LAPD’s rule against enforcing immigration law.” City Journal, Winter 2004 (full of little-reported facts).

“About 50 Percent of California State Primary Convictions of SCAAP Illegal Alien Inmates in Fiscal Year 2008 Were Related to Drugs, Assault, and Sex Offenses”
United States Government Accountability Office, May 2011 (especially see pages 12 and 29)

“Using data collected in the SCAAP system for 2009, an average share of 5.4 percent of the prisoners in state and local prisons were criminal aliens. The share was more than double that average in California (12.7%) and Arizona (11.7%).” Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), May 2016

A 2005 federal government report looked at illegals in federal or state prisons, or local jails, in fiscal year 2003. According to the Heritage Foundation analysis of the report, “Those 55,322 illegal aliens had been arrested 459,614 times, an average of 8.3 arrests per illegal alien, and had committed almost 700,000 criminal offenses, an average of roughly 12.7 offenses per illegal alien. Out of all of the arrests, 12 percent were for violent crimes such as murder, robbery, assault and sex-related crimes; 15 percent were for burglary, larceny, theft and property damage; 24 percent were for drug offenses; and the remaining offenses were for DUI, fraud, forgery, counterfeiting, weapons, immigration, and obstruction of justice.” Heritage Foundation, March 13, 2017

“About one in five inmates in federal prison are foreign-born, and more than 90 percent of those are in the United States illegally” New York Times, December 21, 2017

2. Oppose murderous, anti-American terrorists? Oppose a porous border:

Based on the Department of Homeland Security’s 2015 Yearbook of Immigration Statistics:

Not every illegal alien who crosses the southern border dodges Gila monsters and skirts cacti in search of the American dream. Beyond old-fashioned killers, such as the remarkably brutal MS-13 gang, “special interest aliens” hail from nations rife with militant Islam, including Iran, Pakistan, and Syria. Most of these border jumpers may be perfectly harmless, but the risk that even a few may want to murder Americans is a needless gamble.

Federal agents in 2015 nabbed 3,977 people from the four places that the State Department then classified as “state sponsors of terrorism,” plus ten others that the Transportation Safety Administration since 2010 designates as “countries of interest.” All told, 67,180 individuals from those 14 nations were apprehended while attempting to enter, or residing in, America illegally — from fiscal years 2006 through 2015 — according to the Department of Homeland Security’s 2015 Yearbook of Immigration Statistics, released last November.

These latest statistics encompass all apprehensions within the U.S. and at its borders. However, among the 462,388 illegal aliens arrested in FY 2015, 331,333 (72 percent) were apprehended on the southern frontier. It is reasonable to believe that at least some of the illegals from these 14 trouble spots were among those who pierced the U.S./Mexican border. National Review, January 31, 2018

From “Terror and the Mexico border,” Christian Science Monitor, January 15, 2017:

Islamic militants purchase a nuclear device from a sympathetic official in Pakistan and ship the weapon on the flip side of a drug trafficking route through West Africa to South America. Next, the package is smuggled north to the United States-Mexico border.

Although this sounds like the plot line of a spy thriller, it is a scenario laid out in an online magazine produced by the Islamic State, the apocalyptic Syria-based terror group also known as ISIS.

“From there it’s just a quick hop through a smuggling tunnel and … presto, they’re mingling with another 12 million ‘illegal’ aliens in America with a nuclear bomb in the trunk of their car,” the 2015 ISIS article says.

From November 2013 to July 2014, officials apprehended 143 individuals listed on the US terror watch list trying to cross the Mexico border and enter the US illegally, according to a confidential Texas Department of Public Safety report obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

And last summer, the US military’s Southern Command warned in an intelligence report that Muslim extremists were using existing migrant smuggling rings in Latin America to gain entry to the US across the Mexico border, according to an account in the Washington Free Beacon.

* * *

…large numbers of individuals continue to enter the US without authorization and completely undetected.

Of prime concern are those from 35 so-called “special interest” countries. These are countries where terrorism is an acute problem.

In Fiscal Year 2014, the Border Patrol apprehended 4,585 unauthorized migrants from “special interest” countries, including 66 from Afghanistan, 223 from Iran, 173 from Iraq, 350 from Pakistan, 169 from Somalia, and 61 from Syria, according to the Office of Immigration Statistics.

* * *

In the fall of 2015, for example, five Pakistanis and an Afghan were arrested near Patagonia, Ariz., after crossing the border roughly 20 miles to the south. While no links to terrorism were found at the time, a later search of a Federal Bureau of Investigation database revealed that the Afghan had family connections to the Taliban, according to The Washington Times. The Afghan is still in custody. The five Pakistanis sought refugee status and were reportedly released.

A few weeks later, the arrests of five men described as “Middle Eastern” near Amado, Ariz., along a common smuggling route, prompted an investigation by the Arizona attorney general’s office. It revealed a steady flow of money from Middle Easterners to human smuggling rings in Mexico.

* * *

A growing number of individuals from special interest countries are attempting to cross the border. When they do, Border Patrol agents are instructed to detain them and notify Homeland Security agents or the FBI.

“I personally have arrested maybe a handful every year,” says one long-time Border Patrol agent.

The conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch has also issued a series of reports claiming the existence of terror training camps on the Mexican side of the border.

“An internal Mexican law enforcement report obtained by Judicial Watch confirms that Islamic terrorists have ‘people along the border, principally in Tijuana, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas,’ ” according to one recent report. Christian Science Monitor, January 15, 2017

3. Illegal aliens cost you and your family a lot of money:

“California Accounted for about 70 Percent of Total Costs for Selected States to Incarcerate SCAAP Criminal Aliens in Fiscal Year 2008.” We estimated that California’s total cost to incarcerate SCAAP criminal aliens in fiscal year 2008 was about $1.1 billion. This represents about 70 percent of the $1.6 billion total estimated costs for the five states we reviewed, as shown in figure 21. California’s estimated cost is higher than the other four states due to higher per inmate incarceration costs and the larger number of SCAAP criminal aliens. In 2005, we estimated that California’s total cost to incarcerate SCAAP criminal aliens was about $510 million in fiscal year 2002 and $635 million in fiscal year 2003.
United States Government Accountability Office, May 2011 (especially see pp. 40-42)

The cost of imprisoning each of California’s 130,000 inmates is expected to reach a record $75,560 in the next year. That’s enough to cover the annual cost of attending Harvard University and still have plenty left over for pizza and beer. Gov. Jerry Brown’s spending plan for the fiscal year that starts July 1 includes a record $11.4 billion for the corrections department while also predicting that there will be 11,500 fewer inmates in four years because voters in November approved earlier releases for many inmates. Los Angeles Times, June 4, 2017

LOS ANGELES COUNTY—The Department of Public Social Services reported over $600 million in welfare and food stamp benefits were issued to illegal alien parents for their native-born children in 2014, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. The $604 million consisted of $222 million in CalWORKs (welfare) and $381 million in CalFresh (food stamps). Nearly 20% of the County’s public welfare funds are spent on illegal immigrants. This does not include the $550 million in public safety costs, $500 million in healthcare costs, hundreds of millions spent on public education, or the $240 million cost to issue 1.4 million California driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants over the next three years. “California taxpayers are now spending approximately $2.5 billion each year on illegal immigrants, while the needs of our foster youth, homeless, mentally ill and crime victims go unmet,” said Antonovich. “We must serve the needs of our community, before serving those who are here illegally.” Michael D. Antonivch, February 11, 2015

4. For the United States of America to be its OWN county, its citizens must oppose illegal immigration, which violates our sovereignty:

Sovereignty means an entity (nation, state, individual, etc.) sets and enforces its own policies, and no other power can make it do what it does not want to do.

The United States of America is a sovereign nation with laws that must be obeyed within its borders. Allowing some people to break the law means the U.S. is no longer sovereign and that another force — invaders — is over it.

For example, if you had home rules for your children, but then a neighbor or a stranger came in and told your children they must obey their new rules, not their parents’, you’d be more than annoyed. You would have lost your sovereignty.

Like ancient invaders destroying government markers, or more recently, ISIS destroying thousands of years of irreplaceable artifacts, illegal aliens flout the laws of the United States, then once inside, change the culture from the inside out. It’s a matter of sovereignty and a matter of permission. Anyone who comes into your home or nation uninvited or unapproved is an invader by definition.

The first president of the United States, George Washington, understood that America is a sovereign nation and no vassal to any other. “But if we are to be told by a foreign Power (if our engagements with it are not infracted) what we shall do, and what we shall not do, we have Independence yet to seek, & have contended hitherto for very little.” George Washington letter to Alexander Hamilton in 1796

See the straightforward U.S. laws against illegal immigration:

8 U.S. Code § 1325 – Improper entry by alien

8 U.S. Code § 1227 – Deportable aliens

In conclusion, you see the evidence. “Illegals” streaming into our nation harm your safety, harm you financially, and threaten our national sovereignty. Remember, in the Bible, there were only two kinds of foreigners — those who were permitted, and those who weren’t. The former had to obey all the laws of the land; the latter were known as invaders.

Your land is devastated,
your cities burned with fire.
Right before your eyes your crops
are being destroyed by foreign invaders.
They leave behind devastation and destruction.

All California charter schools are pro-transsexuality

Wednesday, September 6, 2017, 10:00 pm | Randy Thomasson

Have you heard about a charter school in the relatively conservative community of Rocklin, California that’s pushing transsexuality as normal to kindergartners?

While moral parents, especially the parents of young children enrolled in this particular public school, are shocked and angry, the fact is, since SB 777 went into effect in 2008, every charter school in California has been legally required to support — thus promote — homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality in their enrollment, hiring, and school policies.

Why, you ask? Because charter schools are indeed “public” (government-controlled) schools, they must abide by State laws, and most of the homosexuality-bisexuality-transsexual agenda laws in the California Education Code apply to them since every California charter school is “an educational institution that receives, or benefits from, state financial assistance.” Even the liberal, pro-transsexuality principal of the Rocklin Academy knows this.

California Education Code excerpts that apply to all California public schools, including charter schools:

210.7. “Gender” means sex, and includes a person’s gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth.

212.3. “Religion” includes all aspects of religious belief, observance, and practice and includes agnosticism and atheism.

212.6. “Sexual orientation” means heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality.

220. No person shall be subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability, gender, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that is contained in the definition of hate crimes set forth in Section 422.55 of the Penal Code in any program or activity conducted by an educational institution that receives, or benefits from, state financial assistance or enrolls pupils who receive state student financial aid.

[Section 220 was updated, effective 2012, with transsexuality, cross-dressing, and “sex changes,” specifically written into the law as “gender identity” and “gender expression”: No person shall be subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that is contained in the definition of hate crimes set forth in Section 422.55 of the Penal Code in any program or activity conducted by an educational institution that receives, or benefits from, state financial assistance or enrolls pupils who receive state student financial aid.

51500. No teacher shall give instruction nor shall a school district sponsor any activity that promotes a discriminatory bias because of a characteristic listed in Section 220.

[Also in 2012, California Penal Code 422.56, to which Education Code Section 220 is tied, was updated to include “gender identity and gender expression”:
(c) “Gender” means sex, and includes a person’s gender identity and gender expression. “Gender expression” means a person’s gender-related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth.
(h) “Sexual orientation” means heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality.

So when a charter school teacher opened two pro-transsexuality books and read them to kindergartners, confusing and alarming them, it wasn’t only legal, but some would say it’s legally required. Because to not speak positively about all these sexual behaviors can be judged as “promoting a discriminatory bias.”

For whenever liberals — including liberals who are teachers and principals in irreligious, secular charter schools — see the words “discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying” in the law (Education Code, Section 234.1), they regard anyone who opposes transsexuality, cross-dressing, and “sex changes” as a bigot, a harasser, and a bully, and they say the law’s against you, against your values, and against your so-called free speech.

Thus, the homosexual-transsexual activists, Democrat politicians, and government schools combine to snuff out your parental rights, your constitutional rights, and your God-given right of conscience. Does this concern you?

So realize that even though California charter schools look, operate, and perform differently from the regular government schools, they are more alike than not — they both operate under the same state laws promoting unnatural, unhealthy, unbiblical, tyrannical homosexuality and transsexuality to children as young as kindergarten. They aren’t and cannot be made “parent friendly.”

The obvious solution to this big problem and a raft of other anti-child laws in the government schools is to permanently remove your boys and girls from these dysfunctional, nonacademic, godless government indoctrination centers and give them a real education — academically, morally, socially, and hopefully, spiritually — in home schools or Biblical church schools. If you’re still on the fence about whether transsexuality is good or bad to teach to children, realize that the politically-correct Centers for Disease Control has quietly reported that transsexuality has the highest HIV/AIDS rate in the United States. Please also see SaveCalifornia.com’s Science of the Sexes fact sheet and our Not Born This Way information.

CDC statistics show how men who delude themselves to think they’re women have an HIV transmission rate TRIPLE that of homosexual men (2.7% vs. .09%):
“Transgender people, particularly transgender women, are vulnerable to HIV infection. Available evidence suggests that, in relation to their population size, transgender women are among the most heavily affected populations in the United States … Meta-analyses and literature reviews of available studies provide evidence of the effects HIV has taken on the transgender community. In a recent analysis of CDC-funded HIV testing conducted nationwide, transgender women had the highest rates of HIV diagnoses (2.7%), followed by men (0.9%), transgender men (0.5%), and women (0.2%).” HIV and Transgender Communities, CDC Issue Brief, September 2016

At least 63% and as much as 91% of HIV/AIDS infections transmitted by “male-to-male sexual contact”:
“Approximately 1.1 million persons in the United States are living with HIV infection [1]. In 2010, the estimated number of new HIV infections was 47,500: of those, 63% were attributed to male-to-male sexual contact, 25% to heterosexual contact, 8% to injection drug use, and 3% to male-to-male sexual contact and injection drug use [2]” [Note: According to this CDC report, “All the participants had at least 1 male sex partner,” including those males who “self-identified as heterosexual”] CDC, HIV Surveillance Special Report: Men Who Have Sex with Men, 20 U.S. Cities, 2011
