How to escape and protest higher taxes

Saturday, March 28, 2009, 11:15 am |

Brace yourself. California’s foolish government decreed Wednesday, April 1 as the day when the statewide sales tax will increase a full 1.00%. I suggest that if you have to make a big purchase, buy it now to save a full percentage point. Then join the tax revolution that’s brewing all over the nation.

When you wake up Wednesday morning, the total sales tax will be around 9.00% for most Californians, and even higher in some already high-tax areas: 9.25% in Los Angeles County; 9.50% in San Francisco; and 9.75% in places like Alameda County, Pinole, Richmond and National City. The highest sales tax in the state is likely to be in South Gate in L.A. County — 10.25%.

Again, who is doing this to working families? Seventy-five out of 75 Democrat state legislators, 6 out of 44 Republican legislators and 1 liberal Republican Governor named Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The .25% hike in the state income tax and the slashing of the state child tax credit (costing parents $210 per child) are already in effect. The car tax or Vehicle License Fee will double on May 19. Ironically, that’s the same day California voters will vote on Prop. 1A. Defeating 1A would limit these higher taxes to two years’ duration.

The overall tax-and-fee hike on California families is expected to average $1,100 per year. In case you’re wondering, Barack Obama’s “middle class” tax cut will average $800 per family, but will last only two years. So the average California family will still pay more in taxes for 2009 and 2010, even if Prop. 1A is defeated and California’s tax increase expires in Spring 2011. And as long as tax-and-spend Democrats rule the roost in Sacramento, you can expect more tax hike proposals.

Yet in the United States, the average total tax that working Americans pay is 30.8%. This means the average American is under more financial oppression than the average serf in feudal Europe!

Take action:

1. Californians, call and email Governor Schwarzenegger and your state legislators to demand they NEVER AGAIN RAISE TAXES OR FEES (that’s right, the Democrats and Schwarzenegger are actually considering more taxes in light of a new $8 BILLION hole in the state budget)

2. Californians, plan to vote NO on Prop. 1A on May 19

3. Everyone, plan to attend an April 15 rally to protest higher taxes and big government

What to do about the California tax increase

Monday, March 23, 2009, 10:30 am |

Thanks to all 75 Democrat state legislators and 6 Republican legislators, California’s higher income tax is already in effect. So is the two-thirds reduction in the child tax credit. On April 1, the state sales tax will be jacked up a full 1 percent. On May 19, the same day Californians can limit taxes by voting no on Prop. 1A, the car tax goes up massively.

You’re invited to listen to Randy Thomasson’s latest SaveCalifornia.com show with guest Lew Uhler of the National Tax Limitation Committee. This important podcast will give you deeper understanding of the financial war against hard-working families and will tell you what you can do to fight for what’s right.

Plan now to rally against higher taxes and big government at an April 15 Tax Day Tea Party near you. Listen to this stimulating 23-min. radio show for your specific action steps.

Marriage counterfeits in WA mimic California

Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 10:15 am |

Democrats in the Washington State Senate have passed a bill to award every single right of marriage to homosexuals. Democrat Governor Christine Gregoire says she will sign it if it reaches her desk. “I don’t think they have the right to redefine marriage for all of us,” said Sen. Janea Holmquist, a Republican from Moses Lake.

The Washington bill copies the core of California’s counterfeit marriage law:

Washington’s SB 5688 reads:
“…for all purposes under state law, state registered domestic partners shall be treated the same as married spouses.”

California Family Code, Section 297.5, passed in 2003 as AB 205, stated:
“Registered domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections, and benefits, and shall be subject to the same responsibilities, obligations, and duties under law, whether they derive from statutes, administrative regulations, court rules, government policies, common law, or any other provisions or sources of law, as are granted to and imposed upon spouses.”

I remember how, during the 2003 Assembly floor debate, the last phrase “as are granted to and imposed upon married spouses” was edited to remove the word “married.” This enabled a few Democrat legislators to vote to pass AB 205 and then deceptively claimed it had nothing to do with marriage.

The marriage counterfeit is passing in Washington despite their 1998 marriage amendment which reserved the word “marriage” for a man and a woman. The same thing happened in Oregon after a 2004 constitutional amendment passed there to preserve the word “marriage.” Quickly, the Democrat-controlled legislature passed “civil unions” which mimic and have all the rights of marriage and are legally indistinguishable from real marriage.

In California, voters passed Proposition 22 in 2000 to protect the word “marriage” in the state’s statutes. But Prop. 22 neglected to include the “rights, benefits, and privileges” of marriage. So, within a few years, the Democrats in the Legislature systematically copied marriage and awarded all the rights and privileges of marriage to homosexual “domestic partners.”

Then, in 2004, Judge Richard Kramer of San Francisco ruled that since homosexuals were awarded marriage rights, it was illogical not to award them the marriage label as well. The Supreme Court agreed 4-3 in May 2008, but was quickly overruled in November 2008 by Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment.

Counterfeits always harm society, whether it’s lying or cheating, or a teenager pretending he loves a girl just so she’ll give him sex, or the stealing that banks and other businesses endure, or the false documents that are commonplace in the black market.

I am greatly concerned how counterfeit marriages in California and other states will teach children that there’s nothing special about marriage and that homosexual relationships deserve the same honor as marriage, just with a different name. The opposite is true. No relationship deserves the same right or status of marriage between a man and a woman because sameness is utterly different from oneness.

And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”  — Jesus Christ in Matthew 19:4-6
