Update/alert: Citizens resist Safeway and SB 572

Here’s an encouraging update and new alert. In early June, SaveCalifornia.com warned you about Safeway promoting homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality to customers and their children.

The prominent signs people saw when they walked in the grocery stores proclaimed “Gay/Lesbian Pride Month” with a large picture of homosexual activist Harvey Milk of San Francisco.

Thank you to everyone who took action. Here’s what Ken wrote us the very next day:

I got the Safeway in [my local city] to pull their Harvey Milk signs, at least when I was there.  I explained in a logical manner my thoughts and found a sympathetic ear.  The Safeway worker was actually glad to take the signs down, but said that he needed a complaint from a customer to do so.  I don’t know if his reason was official but that is the justification he gave me for pulling the sign down.  If I see the signs again I am going say something again.  I am also thinking picketing in front of the Safeway store if they won’t take their signs down.  Or I just will shop elsewhere.

SUPPORT SAVECALIFORNIA.COM IN THE BATTLE AGAINST ‘HARVEY MILK GAY DAY’

On June 17, a Phoenix TV station interviewed SaveCalifornia.com President Randy Thomasson about Safeway, pitting him against a local homosexual activist.

Here in California, with the help of our financial supporters, SaveCalifornia.com is fighting hard against SB 572, “Harvey Milk Gay Day.” SB 572 is on the Assembly floor and could be voted on next week. See our May media clips and act now to help.

Unfortunately, when SB 572 passed a Democrat-controlled committee last week, only KGO-TV in San Francisco and some conservative radio reported the bad news.

In this virtual media blackout, there’s obviously much more we must do to defeat “Harvey Milk Gay Day.” This is why SaveCalifornia.com has new action steps for you below.

If signed, SB 572 would pressure every California public school to have an official “Harvey Milk Day” promoting the homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual agenda to children as young as kindergarten. The sky is the limit on what a school considers “suitable commemorative exercises.” This is written so broadly, SB 572 could allow gay-pride parades on campus, cross-dressing, and homosexual “marriage” dramas, etc.

It’s all going to come down to how much pressure California’s governor feels. Remember, last year the Democrat-controlled Legislature passed “Harvey Milk Gay Day,” but Schwarzenegger vetoed it.

This year, Schwarzenegger is being lobbied more heavily by homosexual activists. Sean Penn, who played Harvey Milk on the big screen, and Milk’s homosexual activist nephew, have both personally lobbied Schwarzenegger to ask him to sign SB 572. Other differences from last year is that there are four more Democrats in the Assembly voting for “Harvey Milk Gay Day.” And for the first time, a Republican, Senator Abel Maldonado, is supporting this horrible, anti-family bill.

GET BUSY: CALL, EMAIL, FAX/WRITE SACRAMENTO

1. CALL Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at 916-445-2841. Listen to the recorded message and push the buttons to get to a live constituent services representative. Kindly but firmly say, “I’m calling to urge the Governor to veto SB 572, ‘Harvey Milk Gay Day,’ like he did last year. Parents don’t want this, children don’t need this. Schools should teach children academics, not the ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender’ values of Harvey Milk or anyone else.”

Schwarzenegger’s phone lines are open weekday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also call his offices 24/7 in San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Fresno and San Francisco.

2. EMAIL SaveCalifornia.com’s prewritten email message to Schwarzenegger and your two California state legislators.

3. FAX OR WRITE Governor Schwarzenegger. Use personal letterhead if you have it, or even better — business/organization/church letterhead — when you FAX the Governor at 916-558-3160 or write him at:

4. CALL your own California Republican state assemblymember and other Republican assemblymembers to urge them to “Speak against ‘Harvey Milk Gay Day’ on the floor. Your vote won’t stop SB 572, so please use your voice against this terrible, anti-family bill.” List of Republican assemblymembers.

After your Father’s Day cards are opened

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 NLT

How successful a father are you? Take this online test from the National Center for Fathering.

I give the highest human honor to fathers. Like the general of an army or the captain of a ship, fathers are the most important person in the family unit. They are the leaders, whether they know it or not!

Dads are the anchor for the children. Dads are bigger, stronger, louder and have the ability to be the most decisive and active parent. It’s the male distinctive.

When I meet a couple or a family, I first address the father, look him in the eye, and talk with him. I honor him as the captain of his children’s hearts. He will steer them well or not well or disastrously. To steer them well, he needs to intentionally love and lead, train and teach. To steer them badly, he doesn’t need to lift a finger. Such is the power of a father.

Dad, I want to remind you of something important. Basically, I want to remind you of your purpose. Receiving cards and words of appreciation on Father’s Day is one thing. But it’s entirely another thing to be a good father who trains good character in your children.

It’s a fact that today’s generation is the worst morally that America has ever had. From back-talking to self-indulgence to lack of empathy to addictions to food, pre-marital sexual activity, video games, music, internet chat rooms, gambling, alcohol and drugs, today’s teens are setting records in immorality and self-destructiveness. Yes, even in “Christian” families.

Bill Gothard, founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles has said, “What the parents allow in moderation, the children will allow in excess.”

So if parents live close to the cliff, their children will fall over the cliff. Conversely, if parents consistently try to avoid sin and love God, their children will do an even better job avoiding sin and loving God.

America needs the next generation to be much better, don’t you agree? For if America doesn’t repent of its sins — beginning with you and me in our homes — God will hold us all responsible. We may already be seeing His hand of punishment.

Dad, here’s your assignment if you choose to accept it:

It’s time for courage. For conviction. For faith. To secure and inspire your children, you need to constantly grow as a father. You need to understand your role. It’s to be the main trainer of your children’s character and behavior.

Deep down, you are needed to quench the deep thirst that your child has for you. An unmet father-thirst is why boys join gangs and girls hook up with older men. Give your children the “father water” they thirst for. Become a highly functional father who leaves a legacy with your children that makes them and our society better, not worse.

Dad, I challenge you to make becoming a better father your desire, your plan, and your new lifestyle. Commit to grow in this way, then tell your wife your plan and ask for her support. If you say you love your kids, your growth as a father isn’t an option, it’s an imperative. How do you grow? You first start by shrinking yourself.

A good father is a man who is in control of his home with the positive strength and love of God. He has a committed relationship with God. He reads the Bible with his family and prays with them. He is living out his faith, not contradicting it, as his children watch and learn. This is how to have peace and respect in your home.

How do you become a functional father? And how do you grow from being a functional father to a highly functional father who receives the praise of God, his wife and his children, and leaves a measurable legacy?

Get resources and training from the National Center for Fathering. A good first step is to take a simple test that will tell you how you’re doing as a father.

Be courageous. Be loving. Remember, this isn’t about your feelings. It’s about your children’s hearts, minds and futures. Change yourself…to build your kids…to become what they were created to be…adults of impeccable character…who love and serve the Lord.

New poll says most Americans call themselves conservative

There’s a new Gallup poll that has excited some of my friends. Self-described conservatives are now the nation’s largest voter bloc.

Yet I wonder if most “conservatives” are “fiscal conservatives” who like their money, rather than “moral conservatives” who believe in God, family and country.

I say this because another Gallup poll found most conservatives now support open homosexuality in the military.

In the last five years, there’s been a 12-point leap in favor of homosexualizing the military among “conservatives.” To me, this displays the success of carnal Hollywood and public school indoctrination and the failure of the Church to teach young people applicable standards for society, voting, and government policies. Pastors need to repent!

The truth is, allowing open homosexuality in the barracks and showers of enlisted men and women will harm our military by ruining esprit d’corps. Learn why from the Center for Military Readiness.

Yet on simpler, more understandable issues, such as  “what is marriage” and “do babies in the womb have a right to life,” most Americans still know and stand on the truth:

1. Americans oppose homosexual “marriage” legalization 57-40%, which is higher support for natural marriage than two years ago.

2. For the first time in a generation, most Americans call themselves pro-life on abortion.

Is there a battle for family values and moral standards in America, where victory is up for grabs? You betcha.
