Newsom’s U.S. Senate pick: Worse than Feinstein

Monday, October 2, 2023, 8:19 am | Randy Thomasson
Laphonza Butler, a top strategist on the Kamala Harris for President team, in 2019

Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom has announced his appointment to replace the late Dianne Feinstein. And even worse than Feinstein, Laphonza Butler brazenly embraces Newsom’s and Kamala Harris’ immoral agenda:

She’s a leading abortion activist: Butler is currently the head of Emily’s List, a wealthy, Democrat-run pro-abortion political group (Source), which opposes all baby killing restrictions, such as banning abortions when a pre-born baby’s heartbeat is confirmed. (Source)

She’s an “out” lesbian “married” to another woman: Butler and her “wife” are both “LGBTQIA+” activists. In 2020, Butler joined Airbnb as its director of public policy and campaigns , turning it hard against property owners with moral values (Source). Demonstrating she believes all the “LGBTQIA+” lies, Butler wrote last year, “And these are yet again, the same politicians who also don’t believe in science, who are attacking trans-youth and erasing the history of our country by banning books.” (Source)

She’s a former union boss who led revolts against small business owners and coerced millions in ‘dues’: “Butler served as president of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 2015, the nation’s largest home care and nursing home workers union.” (Source) As the Freedom Foundation observed in 2018, “SEIU 2015 deducts a staggering 3 percent of the caregivers’ meager paychecks, which comes to more than $500 per year for many…When a caregiver tries to opt out of union membership, they are sent a 500-word form letter rejecting their request. The letter rambles on about the benefits of union membership and buries instructions on how to “properly” opt out during the annual 15-day escape period.” (Source)

She’s a racist: Butler was on the board of BlackPAC, which defines itself as “an independent, Black-led organization that uses the power of year-round political engagement and elections to change our economic, justice, and political systems…We’re holding our public officials accountable to a policy agenda that defends our rights, promotes dignity, and ends white supremacy.” (Source)

And she doesn’t even live California: “But according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission from September 2023, Butler doesn’t live in California, nor anywhere close to the state. Instead, it appears she lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, a Washington, DC suburb. Using the address listed in the FEC filing, it’s possible to find Butler’s voter registration in Maryland, which is as recent as September 2022 and classifies the Silver Spring address as her “residential” location.” (Source)

Ditch the smiles — Laphonza Butler will further “butcher” our children and our Constitution.

“And the attacks on our rights, the rights to make decisions about our body, the attacks on our voting rights — that is happening with governors and state legislators. And so EMILY’s List specifically is going to be focused on engaging and investing the resources to win at the state and local level so that these are cases that don’t wind their way to the courts.”

AB 957 vetoed + new alert on second anti-parent bill AB 665

Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11:27 am | Randy Thomasson

SCROLL DOWN FOR YOUR AB 665 ACTION STEP

Late Friday, Sept. 22, Gavin Newsom vetoed AB 957, instructing judges in child custody cases to disfavor moral parents who are against the ‘trans’ confusion of their own children.

Thank you for following SaveCalifornia.com’s lead to call and email Newsom. We knew this radical anti-parent, anti-religious-freedom bill was vetoable. Because Newsom IS running for president. And he doesn’t want Republican candidates or media or even less-liberal Democrats in other states saying “Hey, you sign a bill against parents, against religious freedom, and in favor of the ‘trans’ agenda targeting our children!”

Indeed, in Newsom’s Sept. 22 veto message, he demonstrated he’s AGAINST biological facts and moral values for children, writing, “I appreciate the passion and values that led the author to introduce this bill. I share a deep commitment to advancing the rights of transgender Californians, an effort that has guided my decisions through many decades in public office.”

So, instead of criticizing AB 957 on substance, he said he didn’t like its violation of separation of powers, writing, “I urge caution when the Executive and Legislative branches of state government attempt to dictate – in prescriptive terms that single out one characteristic – legal standards for the Judicial branch to apply.” Wow, in his quest to avoid being known as the uberliberal, power-hungry activist he is, Newsom’s even willing to sound like a constitutionalist!

Yet Newsom then revealed his real concern — that signing AB 957 could provoke conservative Republican states to pass laws instructing judges to disfavor pro-transsexuality parents — when he warned, “Other-minded
elected officials, in California and other states, could very well use this strategy to diminish the civil rights of vulnerable communities
.”

So, there you have it. Gavin Newsom is against the natural family, against parental rights, against biological facts, and against the best interests of children. But he’s running for president (he’s waiting for the White House Occupant to step aside), and your flood of phone calls and web form messages reminded Newsom how unpopular AB 957 was.

I congratulate everyone who opposed this evil bill — this is your victory! Now please use the same strategy to deluge Newsom with opposition to the other big, bad, anti-parent bill, AB 665, which would permit the anti-family Establishment Left to manipulate pre-teens and teens to somehow “consent” to leave their parents.

Remember, AB 665 would permit children 12 years and up, who are neither harming themselves nor are victims of abuse, to “consent” to “mental health treatment or counseling services” and go live at a “residential shelter.” Again, current law requires parental consent, but this bill wipes out God-given parental rights.

PLEASE ACT NOW: Urge Newsom to veto AB 665 by calling his office, Monday-Friday, 9-5 at 916-445-2841. When a staffer answers, tell the staffer paid to take your simple message: “I’m calling to urge the Governor to veto the anti-parent bill AB 665.” Please also use Newsom’s web form (on the right-hand side of the page, select “An Active Bill,” then scroll down to select AB 665, then select “Con” to oppose). He has until October 14 to sign or veto bills, but could decide anytime on AB 665. Make Newsom realize how unpopular this radical bill is!

Families were created to make up for what evolution did not provide, namely a way by which men could be induced to support the children they beget and care for the women they impregnate. But since marriage is a social invention, we have learned how it can be undercut by people who think that their lives will be fuller, their opportunities greater, and their burdens fewer if they are allowed to treat sex as recreation, children as toys, and income as an obligation of government rather than a result of work.

UPDATE: Dems attack parents + what to do now

Thursday, September 7, 2023, 5:59 pm | Randy Thomasson

You’ve probably already heard that the ruling Democrats in the California State Senate on Wednesday passed 2 big anti-parent bills: AB 665 coercively emancipating 12-year-olds for any reason, and AB 957 discriminating against religious parents in child custody cases.

But do you know why 30 Democrats voted for AB 957 and 31 Democrats approved AB 665?

1. Because Democrat politicians actually oppose parents’ rights: With their votes and even their words — especially on the Assembly floor this year — Democrat Party legislators increasingly believe parents “get in the way” of the Democrats’ “LGBTQIA+” and abortion (baby-killing) agendas. This subversive philosophy was strengthened last year when SB 866 initially passed the State Senate, making it “easier” for them to trample parental rights.

2. Because Democrat politicians prostitute themselves to “LGBTQIA+”: Both bills, especially AB 957, were sold to the ruling Democrats as benefitting children who “identify” as another “gender.” Experts at playing the “LGBTQIA+ card,” Democrat bosses twisted the arms of 4 Democrats who, June 13 in the Senate Judiciary Committee, had demanded a religious-freedom amendment as a condition to support AB 957 on the floor. Yet no religious accommodation was put in the bill, since those 4 Democrats were reminded how the “LGBTQIA+” agenda supersedes everything. And with AB 665, Democrat state senators were sold how this somehow benefitted “LGBT youth.” You see, in order to capture kids, their perversity agenda must squash God-given parental rights, every time.

3. Because Democrat politicians are professional liars: Over the years, I’ve repeatedly seen Democrat legislators draft deceitful bills, redefine and misdefine words, break their promises, and arrogantly claim what’s true is false and what’s false is true. AB 665 author Wendy Carrillo falsely claimed her bill never threatened parents, and said AB 665 is for “homeless youth,” when that’s not even a condition of her bill. And AB 957 author Lori Wilson claimed religious parents would never have their children taken away, that her judicial mandate is not a mandate, and that she’d “work” with the Judiciary Committee chair to amend AB 957 to accommodate religious parents — but these were all lies.

YOUR PARENTAL RIGHTS ACTION STEPS:

You can have practical hope because Gavin Newsom is running for president and has a $31.5 BILLION state budget deficit hanging over him. So please call and email him to remind him how unpopular AB 665 and AB 957 are.

1. Please call Newsom’s constituent services office, Monday-Friday, 9-5 at 916-445-2841. When a staffer answers, tell the staffer paid to take your simple message: “I’m calling to urge Governor Newsom to veto the anti-parent bills AB 665 and AB 957.”

2. Also use Newsom’s web form to oppose both bills.

On this page, here are the steps:

1. Under “What is your request or comment about?”, scroll to and select “Legislation Issues/Concerns”

2. Under “What is the purpose of your message?”, select “Leave a Comment”

3. Click “Next” to go to the next page

4. Under “If applicable, what is your stance on this topic?, click “Con”

5. In the message field, simply write in all caps: VETO ANTI-PARENT BILLS AB 665 AND AB 957

6. Click “Next” to go to the next page

7. Enter your first and last name and email address (but not your phone number)

8. Click “Submit”

The California State Legislature will adjourn its 2023 session on September 14; the governor will have until October 14 to sign or veto bills.

Democratic governors don’t tend to jump at the chance for a sit-down interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News. They also don’t tend to do tours of states they consider hostile to their own, like Florida. But then there’s California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom. He prefers the national stage to dealing with the rampant dysfunction happening in his own state. And while Newsom claims he isn’t running for president, the evidence suggests he actually is.
