“Harvey Milk Gay Day” passes California State Senate

As you may have heard, on Thursday, the Democrat-controlled California Senate, along with increasingly anti-family “Republican” Abel Maldonado,  passed the “Harvey Milk Gay Day” bill for every California “public” school.

SB 572 affects children as young as kindergarten and there is no parental consent. It’s so broadly written, SB 572 easily allows “gay pride parades” on campus in honor of homosexual activist Harvey Milk.

Voting yes were all 23 Democrats present + Maldonado. The rest of the 14 Republicans voted no but none spoke against the bill. Since Republican senators aren’t calling for a veto, you and I must.

Atrocious California drop-out rate

The teacher unions have been in charge of California’s “public” schools for decades. The result is children who are ill-mannered and lack critical thinking and academic proficiency.

I’m angry that state schools chief Jack O’Connor was ho-hum about the new drop-out data. Yesterday, O’Connell reported 1 out of 5 kids drop-out of California public schools (it’s really more than 33%). This is atrocious and completely unacceptable. But O’Connell and the teacher unions just sigh and say they need more money when money isn’t the answer but parents back in charge is.

6 Democrats + 1 Republican = ‘Gay Day’ advances

On Wednesday morning, one of the worst bills in California history, instituting official Harvey Milk Gay Day in government schools, passed its final committee in the California State Senate. Voting “yes” on SB 572 were all six Democrats and — shock — Central Coast Republican Abel Maldonado. Read the May 6 SaveCalifornia.com news release.

1. Call your own California state senator to say you want him or her to “Vote NO on SB 572, Harvey Milk Gay Day, which a large majority of California parents oppose, which parents don’t want, and children don’t need.”

2. Especially call self-proclaimed “pro-family” Republican Abel Maldonado of Santa Maria and self-proclaimed “pro-family Christian” Democrat Dean Florez of Shafter. Both men, who voted in favor of Harvey Milk Gay Day, want to be elected to statewide office in 2010.

3. Lastly, flood Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with phone calls. Leave a message that you want him to “Veto SB 572 like you did last year. Eighty percent of Californians don’t want Harvey Milk Gay Day in public schools. Parents don’t want this, and children don’t need this.”
