We’re celebrating a significant victory for parental rights.  Governor Jerry Brown has vetoed AB 1444, the mandatory kindergarten bill!

Now I want to you understand why this happened. Then you can apply the same principles to winning more victories for what’s right in God’s sight.

First, this victory was earned. This bad bill wasn’t vetoed because of “fate” or because the governor was studying the Bible. No, there were simply more phone calls to Jerry Brown opposing the elimination of a parental right than phone calls in support of AB 1444. We

The pro-family opposition campaign was initiated and led earlier this year by the California-based Family Protection Ministries and HSLDA. Once AB 1444 passed the Democrat-controlled State Legislature, SaveCalifornia.com stepped in to help and “poured it on.” Thank you to everyone who called and gave of yourselves.

Second, this was a window of opportunity to be seized for good. Informed Americans know that the diabolical Islamic army ISIS took over Iraq because Obama had foolishly pulled out U.S. troops — thus leaving a vacuum for them to exploit.

Similarly, but with completely opposite values (because we love God and people), SaveCalifornia.com exploited the absence of Democrat “sacred cows” (abortion, “LGBT” agenda, environmentalism, etc.), which weren’t part of AB 1444.

No, AB 1444 was about mandatory kindergarten, pure and simple. On one side, the teacher unions said they know what’s best for children; on the other side, parents said, no way, these are our children and we decide. And I knew that if another parental right fell, liberals won’t think twice about killing off more.

In the end, Jerry Brown, who’s already given too much to the teacher unions, who’s well aware he’s running for reelection, and who’s old enough to remember when parental rights were the standard du jour in America, sided with fathers and mothers. See the 5 reasons why Brown was “open” to a veto.

This is an important and sweet example that victory must be earned. We expect this in sports, in war, in business, in education, in romance, and in the real world. Likewise, in politics, whatever side works harder will win. If you did anything to oppose AB 1444, you are part of this victory!

If you’re celebrating this wonderful win for parental rights, I invite you to pursue more victories in the present election. It is well worth your time to help a good candidate win, so that they’ll vote right all the time. If you called Jerry Brown to urge his veto of AB 1444, please call a good candidate in your area today. On the phone, schedule yourself to volunteer for just 1 hour at their campaign office. It’s that easy.

This election is a historic opportunity for moral conservatives. Liberal voters across America are depressed! In June, complacency and apathy resulted in only 25% of California’s registered voters actually voting — a record low.

As I’ve written before, a low voter turnout — which is also expected in the general election now upon us — means a greater opportunity for pro-family victories. When you vote and vote wisely, and work to generate as many good votes as you can in your community and from among your friends — you can win!

When you understand that the AB 1444 victory was earned and that all victories require your participation, then you will grow as a people-loving difference-maker, and avoid the non-productive, fatalistic thinking of a mere spectator.

Thank you again to everyone who called and donated to SaveCalifornia.com in this important battle. We seized the day and families are the victors!

The price of success is hard work,
dedication to the job at hand,
and the determination that whether we win or lose,
we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.

And my fingers for battle—

“It doesn’t matter if I vote.” Not!

“God’s in control — what will be will be.”

Do you believe you should always vote? It used to be that moral citizens believed voting was a sacred act before God in a proclaimed republic as ours. And voting has, for generations, been regarded as at least a duty of every patriotic citizen.

But just as Independence Day has devolved into simply a day off with fireworks and picnics, registered voters have forgotten the purpose of voting.

By now you might have heard that, after most of the counting has been done, around 25% of registered California voters actually voted in the June 3 statewide primary election.

As I wrote earlier, for immoral or irresponsible citizens, this is understandable. But this low turnout is unacceptable for moral citizens, who have bought into fuzzy thinking, laziness, faithlessness, and fatalism.

In the month before the June 3 election, I heard from people who complained that judges overturn their vote. But while corrupt judges have indeed destroyed moral ballot measures, such as Prop. 8, this has not happened with candidates. It is fuzzy thinking to claim judges will destroy your vote.

And others — stung by the defeat of moral-issue ballot campaigns and depressed by the two-thirds Democratic control of the State Legislature — utter fatalistic complaints instead of being fruitful in an election cycle. In elections, it appears that union bosses and homosexual activists have more “faith” than most pastors and churches!

An honest talk-show host told me it was such a struggle for him to vote this time. But I reminded him that if we think like losers, we will lose. And I explained why a low voter turnout expectation actually FAVORS moral virtues, if we’ll simply recognize and seize the opportunity.

How could this be, you ask? Think about it. Because when average or non-family voters have a LOW turnout and pro-family voters have a HIGH turnout, there will be victories for moral values.

It’s simple math. If there are 100 possible voters in an election cycles, and half of them actually vote in the election, my vote is 1 out of 50 or 2 percent. If 100% of registered voters go to the polls, I am 1% of the voters.

Here’s an example of 1 out of 100 voters (the highest possible voter turnout), where 1 voter has 1% influence:

Now imagine yourself in a low-turnout election where only 20% of registered voters actually cast votes. Now you are 1 of 20 voters — you are 5% of the electorate. Your influence has quintupled. It’s like having 5 votes per person!

As veteran political columnist Dan Walters of the Sacramento Bee wrote this week:

Although election officials are still counting votes from the June 3 primary election – and a few contests are still in doubt – the lukewarm tenor of the Nov. 4 general election is evident, and that could be bad news for California’s dominant Democrats.

The record-low voter turnout in the primary – about 25 percent of registered voters – is very likely to be reflected in November for many of the same reasons.

The outcome of the top-of-the-ticket contest between Gov. Jerry Brown and Republican challenger Neel Kashkari is virtually certain months in advance, there’s no U.S. Senate contest, and there will be no barnburner ballot measures to motivate occasional voters.

So my question is, are you only motivated by stuff on the ballot, and are thus an “occasional voter”? Or are you motivated by God’s values, patriotism in our Republic, or one who seizes the day because you understand the math and recognize the great opportunity that a low voter turnout affords?

Choose to make a calculated difference. The outcome of many state assembly, state senate, local races, depends on pro-family voters. If you love God and love people, you will vote and vote wisely. Even if you didn’t do this in the June primary election, plan now for November — to vote wisely and use creativity to influence many others to vote wisely. Seize the day!

“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote … he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”
Samuel Adams, 1722–1803 (The “Father of the American Revolution”)

“Now more than ever the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature.”
James Garfield, 1831–1881 (20th President of the United States)

Criminal Democrats

wright-yee-calderon

I’m not a Democrat or a Republican, but a political independent.

Yet in my 20 years of pro-family work in California, I’ve never seen anything like this. Inflated Democrat control of the State Legislature + Democrat lawmakers being led away in handcuffs = the potential for Democrat seats being lost this election year.

Partisan Democrats like Jerry Brown are worried, but what’s the reaction of average voters? Will they say “Those politicians!” or will they regret voting for Democrats, period?

Most Californians don’t realize that Democrats have been in virtual control of the California Legislature for more than a half century. And I’ve found most Californians don’t seem to know that Democrat politicians are sexually indoctrinating children, making taxpayers fund all kinds of abortions, dumbing-down education, and responsible for many price increases due to a mountain of taxes, fees, and regulations.

But voters tend to wake up in an election year, and they’re sensitized to bad things that they clearly understand are bad.

So, when the FBI and juries say three California Democrat state senators are criminals, that’s likely to turn away some voters from voting for Democrats. Jerry Brown and his Democrat colleagues know this — which is why they’ve suspended (with pay) these three Democrats who are accused of corruption, bribery, fraud, illegal gun-running and more:

Number 1. Democrat state senator Rod Wright of Los Angeles County: In January, Wright was found guilty by a jury on two counts of perjury, one count of filing a false declaration of candidacy and five counts of fraudulent voting…all felonies.

Number 2. Democrat state senator Ron Calderon of Los Angeles County: In February, Calderon was charged and arrested by the FBI in a 24-count indictment by a federal grand jury that includes mail fraud, wire fraud, honest services fraud, bribery, conspiracy to commit money laundering, money laundering, and aiding in the filing of false tax returns.

Number 3. Democrat state senator Leland Yee of San Francisco and Marin counties: As part of a 137-page criminal indictment released March 26, the FBI arrested and accused Yee of being part of an intricate web of corruption, bribery, fraud, and illegal gun trafficking to Muslim insurgents in the Philippines.

This corrupt, criminal, and sordid political scandal is a test of the consciences of California voters. It is inescapable that all three politicians nabbed by juries and the FBI are powerful, entrenched Democrats. Will voters see the Democrats’ majority control of the Legislature as a problem, or see the Democratic Party itself as corrupt, or will they merely regard these three lawmakers as rare “bad apples”?

This historic turn of events is worth talking about, because statewide Democrat activists and their media friends believe this could harm Democrat candidates in this big election year. If you’re a Democrat or have friends who are, ask yourself and them how they think about all this.

After a heated exchange Friday, the Senate voted to suspend with pay those three members and Steinberg announced plans to conduct an office-by-office ethics review. Sen. Joel Anderson, the El Cajon Republican who had unsuccessfully pushed for a Wright expulsion vote, said the Senate leader’s talk “falls woefully short of being meaningful.” He compared suspension to paid vacation, and said that “If you reward bad behavior, you can get more of it.”
“State Senate can’t break a bad pattern,” Steven Greenhut, U-T San Diego, March 28, 2014

John Burton, chairman of the California Democratic Party, said he does not think voters will hold all Democrats accountable for the actions of three rogue operators, but he said the allegations are worrisome. “It’s a concern, one, because they’re all Democrats, but more than that, it’s a concern for the institution that I was honored to not just serve in but to lead.”
