What God requires

2-Chronicles-7-14-web

Daily prayer to God is essential for the soul to be filled, not empty; solid, not confused. I find that when I don’t pray to God each morning, it’s much easier for me to sin that day.

But will God hear your prayers if you’re not truly sorry for your sins? Consider this top Bible verse for the National Day of Prayer, from 2 Chronicles 7:14:

…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Note how this is a conditional promise from God. For only “if” God’s people follow God’s three requirements will God “then” do three miraculous things in response. What does God require of us?

1. “Humble themselves”: Humility means recognizing our lowly and dependent status before God, and to recognize and confess our sins and guilt before the Creator.

2. “Pray and seek My face”: This is your sincere prayer to your true God. Praying to Him “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24) is how Jesus Christ described true worshipers that the Father seeks. In the context of 2 Chronicles 7:14, this is appealing to the Judge of the Universe, who is offering forgiveness for His People if they fulfill these requirements: a) become humble, b) pray to God in light of His judgment of sin and power to forgive, c) repent of all known sin.

3. “Turn from their wicked ways”: This is the required condition for forgiveness that too many people ignore. “Turn from” means to depart from or abandon. All sinful practices are wicked to God. Fulfilling this condition requires deep humility and fear of God. Turning is an action that proves your attitude. Turning from your sins and turning to God means to replace your desire and practice of sin with a desire for God and His holiness. This hard work requires “putting to death” sinful practices. “For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (Romans 8:13).

So when you pray daily or pray to God with others on National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, remember to take personal inventory and intend to repent of all known sin in Jesus’ name. For then God will hear from heaven and forgive your sin.

Locate a May 2 National Day of Prayer event near you and participate
(if you don’t find a public prayer event online, ask a pastor or friend what’s happening in your community)

“When you spread out your hands,
I will hide My eyes from you;
Even though you make many prayers,
I will not hear.
Your hands are full of blood.
Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.”

Use this to educate others about marriage and our republic

ThumbNail_NewsletterJan2013I was thrilled the other day to find out that a large church in the L.A. area had placed in its bulletin, for everyone to see, SaveCalifornia.com’s excellent newsletter explaining real marriage, Proposition 8, the United States Constitution, and what’s at stake in our republic.

The current issues that turn people’s heads are a great opportunity to educate them with Truth. SaveCalifornia.com is teaching all who are willing to listen, and you can too. With Prop. 8 scheduled March 26 at the U.S. Supreme Court, please seize this opportunity to educate your friends, your church, and people in your community.

Print and distribute SaveCalifornia.com’s Prop. 8 newsletter

So they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the Lord with them; they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.

ObamaCare ruling: Don’t be depressed, direct your anger instead

Thursday, June 28, 2012, 1:28 pm | Randy Thomasson

If your emotions are riled up by unjust judges who have upheld ObamaCare, let the Righteous Judge help you direct your anger and frustration toward a good cause. For the Word of God teaches “be angry, but do not sin” (Ephesians 4:26).

Even though five judges on the U.S. Supreme Court have wrongly opined that ObamaCare is constitutionally permissible, a future Congress and President could repeal all of this socialist-medicine monstrosity.

ObamaCare includes:

At least 20 new taxes on families and small businesses

The ruination of America’s health care system

The biggest pro-abortion federal program ever

Insurance blockades to nutritional medicine

Because this is an election year, I urge you to replace your unrealistic depression for healthy anger. Dr. Neil Anderson is a Christian mental health pioneer and an expert on spiritual warfare. In his excellent book, Victory Over The Darkness, Anderson explains the difference between depression and anger:

Depression Signals an Impossible Goal
When you base your future success on something that can never happen, you have an impossible, hopeless goal. Your depression is a signal that your goal, no matter how spiritual or noble, may never be reached.

Anger Signals a Blocked Goal
When your activity in a relationship or a project results in feelings of anger, it’s usually because someone or something has blocked your goal in that endeavor. Any goal which can be blocked by forces you can’t control (other than God) is not a healthy goal, because your success in that arena is out of your hands.

See it? If you’re frustrated about ObamaCare’s socialized medicine being upheld, you’re justifiably angry that elected representatives and Supreme Court judges are blocking your goal of (and your healthy desires for) personal liberty, a reliable healthcare system, and good government. And your anger is good if you direct it toward good.

Christian psychologist Dr. Neil Clark Warren, founder of the eHarmony.com matchmaking service, wrote a groundbreaking book called Make Anger Your Ally.  From the book’s description:

Do you ever struggle with anger? You can suppress it, deny it, let it control you, or you can Make Anger Your Ally… master anger and transform its energy into a dynamic force for positive living.

Got it? Instead of being depressed about ObamaCare, be righteously angry and direct your anger in healthy ways this November. Vote how you want, but know that a future Congress and President could repeal ObamaCare if you vote like you demand it. Permission to be angry!
