The moral people of California will decide

After working the halls of California’s State Capitol today, it’s clear to me that California will become a Suicide State unless people who oppose “assisted suicide” will exercise sacrificial love and enter the fight.

The forces pushing for “assisted suicide” have money and a small army of dedicated, death-wish activists. In contrast, the natural army of pro-life citizens against “assisted suicide” is distracted, absent, or compromised.

I call upon every pro-life person and every pastor to rise up and fight now to prevent California from becoming the Suicide State, where suicide would be increasingly “the norm,” and people who otherwise would have lived years or decades will have their lives cut short.

After passing its final Assembly committee on September 4 (today), AB 15, the new number of the Democrats’ “assisted suicide” bill, is going to the floor of the California State Assembly for a very close vote.

This weekend, please urge everybody you know to make calls opposing AB 15 before it can be heard early afternoon on Tuesday, September 8. There are a handful of deciding votes.

No surrender on marriage or homosexuality

After doing TV, radio, and newspaper interviews blasting the U.S. Supreme Court’s unconstitutional 5-4 opinion attacking marriage and states’ rights, I took a photo of the rainbow flag being draped from the State Capitol by Democrat homosexual activists (see below), and went back to my office to consider what to write you.

And I want to remind you of something. No matter what any judge or politician or law or poll says, marriage has been, is, and forever will be for a man and a woman. Because homosexual “marriages” are counterfeit and false.

Consider these self-evident truths:

1. You’re born either male or female, as determined by chromosomes (a male inherits a Y chromosome from his father, but a female does not).

2. You need something from a man and something from a woman to conceive a baby through the miracle of procreation.

3. A man and a woman fit together perfectly and healthily (like a plumber knows there are male and female pipe fittings).

4. The only human pair that can achieve coitus are a man and a woman.

5. Children do best inside and out with a married father and mother under the same roof.

Bottom line, if you don’t have a man and a woman, you don’t have marriage. I’m going to keep saying this self-evident truth and I encourage you to do the same.

What’s more, on a legal level, the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion by a bare minimum of judicial activists on the bench is simply unconstitutional, completely illegitimate, and should be rejected by you, by pastors, by governors, and by everyone who knows that “the law” is what’s written in our Constitution, according to the original intent of its drafters. We each need to explain this to others to help them stop thinking that judges make the law — not in a republic they don’t!

Facts:

1. Marriage licenses and regulation are not in the United States Constitution, are therefore the jurisdiction of voters in individual states (9th and 10th Amendments; Article IV, Section 4).

2. Article IV, Section 4 guarantees to every state “a republican form of government” — meaning 1) no monarchy and 2) no lawless mob rule, but a government of written laws representing the will of the people, who are sovereign. State constitutions represent the People’s will on marriage, which the federal judiciary must affirm. 3. The 10th Amendment explicitly says powers that don’t belong to the federal government, or what the Constitution does not prohibit among the states, are state powers. Therefore, marriage is under the states’ jurisdiction.

4. The 14th Amendment is one of three post-Civil War amendments and was about race — giving black former slaves the same legal rights of white freemen — not about marriage. The Amendment applied to the states what was already a federal right enshrined in the 5th Amendment — that no one should be killed (deprived of life), imprisoned or enslaved (deprived of liberty), or deprived of their property without a court order (due process of law). Further, the Equal Protection Clause in no way requires the recognition of same-sex “marriages” because homosexual couples are not the same as heterosexual couples. They cannot have a conjugal union that produces children, and one of the primary purposes of marriage is to bind together fathers and mothers for the benefit of the children they bring into the world.

Will Democrats turn California into the Suicide State?

Do you think it’s right to tell a depressed person they’re better off dead?

That’s what Senate Bill 128 in California would do. So-called “terminal” patients (and how often this diagnosis has been refuted when desperate patients seek alternative treatments on their own) would be given a proposal of a lethal dose of drugs to “put you to sleep forever” (kill them) in bed.

In Oregon, which SB 128 is modeled after, physician-assisted suicide isn’t done for pain, but for loss of autonomy. In other words, doctors are killing depressed people. How much this violates long-held medical ethics and the sanctity of human life. The devil must love the State “offing” people before they have a chance to make peace with God on His terms.

Just the facts, ma’am: With Oregon’s physician-assisted suicide law, the large majority of patients who chose suicide didn’t complain about physical pain, but their main concerns were “losing autonomy” (93%), “less able to engage in activities making life enjoyable” (88%), and “loss of dignity” (73%). See the official Oregon stats. A 20-year-old incapacitated in the hospital after a motorcycle accident could cite the same concerns!

Despite these facts, after passing the Democrat-controlled Senate Health Committee on March 25, by my count, it’s virtually assured that SB 128’s physician-assisted suicide (PAS) will also be approved by the Democrat-controlled Judiciary Committee, and go to the Senate floor in May.

There, this suicide-promotion bill will likely pass by a narrow vote — unless there’s a big fight against it in Hispanic and culturally Catholic strongholds. I say this because if enough people in their districts rose up in protest, enough Democrat state senators could vote no. With a 40-member State Senate, a majority is 21, and by May the Democrats will hold 26 Senate seats.

Therefore, at least 6 of the following Democrats need to vote no, and all 14 Republican state senators also need to vote no, in order for SB 128 to be defeated by at least 1 vote on the Senate floor:

If physician-assisted suicide passes the Senate, the only other place it can be defeated is in the 80-member Assembly, with younger, more pliable, and “less crusty” politicians. So please also urge your own assemblymember to vote no on SB 128.

The prohibition against killing legally innocent people is later formalised in the sixth commandment, ‘You shall not murder’ (Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17). The Hebrew word for ‘murder’ is ratsach (Greek phoneuo) and its meaning is further defined in four main passages in the Pentateuch (Exodus 21:12-14; Leviticus 24:17-21; Numbers 35:16-31; Deuteronomy 19:4-13).

These passages resolve any ambiguity for us and give a precise definition of what is prohibited, namely the ‘intentional killing of an innocent human being’ (Exodus 23:7; 2 Kings 21:16; Psalms 106:37,38; Jeremiah 19:4). Euthanasia clearly falls within this biblical definition. There is no provision for compassionate killing, even at the person’s request and there is no recognition of a ‘right to die’ as all human life belongs to God (Psalms 24:1). Our lives are not actually our own. Suicide (and therefore assisted suicide) is therefore equally wrong.
