Jerry Brown vs. Smokey the Bear

Friday, December 15, 2017, 2:49 pm | Randy Thomasson

In California, the latest obvious difference between uncaring liberals and loving conservatives is over wildfires.

On one side is Smokey the Bear, who, since 1944, has been telling us, “Only you can prevent forest fires” and “Don’t play with matches.”

On the other side are Democrat politicians, such as Governor Jerry Brown, who calls California’s late-season wildfires “the new normal” and is publicly blaming “climate change” for the rapid spread of wildfires, while ignoring any cause of whatever ignited the flames.

With a record 22 Southern California wildfires this month, please don’t accept the establishment phrase, “the cause of the fire is unknown.”

Oh, the media and government have theorized about how the fires have spread, but they’ve largely ignored that it’s highly probable many of these wildfires were caused by evil pyromaniacs who saw their chance to destroy on a windy day.

Indeed, some of the truth is starting to come out. Among the 22 wildfires, one was officially started by a neglectful transient. Another fire was likely caused by a neglectful public utility. But what about the other 20 fiery outbreaks?

Of those fires, officials have determined a firm cause of just one. The Los Angeles Fire Department said a cooking fire in a homeless encampment sparked the Skirball fire in Bel-Air…

…The owner of a small ranch on Little Tujunga Canyon Road said she was awakened early Dec. 5 by a panicked call from her mother, who said sparks were coming off the steel pylon as a line came loose and “was smacking the hill.”

Looking outside, Gail Thackray said, she saw much the same scene: “There was fire concentrated over there and sparks coming off the pylon…. It spread each direction.” She raced out of their ranch with her mother and daughter, driving out through fire.

What causes most forest fires and wildfires? Lack of love. Because that’s what neglect is. Lack of love = lack of care = careless = neglect. Other wildfires are caused by evil pyromaniacs who get devilish pleasure from destroying whatever they can. The fact is, humans cause around 90% of wildfires in the United States, while Nature causes only 10%.

That’s why the national and state forest services have been telling us for decades to remember that “only you can prevent forest fires.” But has this sober message of reality become unpopular with liberal-“progressives” who oppose holding people responsible?

What’s the solution to protect California families from these unacceptable, abnormal wildfires? First, we need a new state law requiring a wide-enough barrier between hillside homes and wild brush to curtail the spread of flames and sparks. Second, California should massively increase penalties against perpetrators, whether they’re pyromaniacs, transients, or public utilities. Third, children need to be taught at early ages to fear God and love their neighbor. That’ll protect homes!

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, in John 10:10

Why do you pay more for gas and electricity in California?

Preview (opens in a new window)

Earlier this year, 80 Democrats and 1 Republican voted in Sacramento to raise your gasoline taxes and your DMV fees. Specifically, this means 20 cents more in taxes for each and every gallon you pump. Are you feeling the pain yet?

Today, November 25, 2017, the average price per gallon of regular gas in California is $3.186. One month ago, before the 20-cent-per-gallon-tax-hike, the average price per gallon was $3.074.

Why is the difference 11.2 cents more, not 20 cents more, per gallon? Because many gas stations recently switched to their legally-allowed “winter blend” of gas, which is cheaper. You can expect California gas prices to be noticeably higher in the spring — as much as 20 cents more per gallon — when the more expensive “summer blend” returns.

ACTION: Plan now to vote YES to repeal the unnecessary and corrupt gas tax hike and DMV fee hike in November 2018, when, hopefully, a constitutional amendment will be on California’s ballot.

But wait, there’s more!

In the United States of America, there are 26 states with a Republican governor and a Republican-controlled state legislature. These states, with elected representatives committed to lower taxes and less regulation, enjoy combined gasoline and electricity prices that are BELOW the national average.

But among Democrat-controlled states, such as California, most of them impose HIGHER-THAN-AVERAGE costs at the gas pump and on your electricity bill.

Why do your energy bills keep going up, up, up? Now you know it’s because of Democrat politicians. Remember, it was 80 Democrats and 1 Republican in the Legislature, plus a Democrat governor, that imposed higher gasoline taxes on you.

ACTION: Share this fact with a Democrat that you love or a Democrat friend. They deserve to know how voting for Democrats is making them poorer.

“An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy.”
American statesman Daniel Webster in 1819

California gas now highest in the contiguous US

Californians aren’t noticing much of a gas tax hike — yet.

You see, the Democrat politicians timed their new gas tax to coincide with the state-permitted “winter blend” gasoline kicking in, which costs about 12 cents less per gallon than the state-mandated “summer blend.” How convenient for them!

Remember, the Democrat politicians are expert thieves and master manipulators. They take more money from you — slowly, so you don’t realize it. Therefore, their new gas tax will charge 12 more cents per gallon November 1, but you won’t really “feel it” until Spring 2018.

So, the first noticeable pain will be your DMV bill going up $25 to $175 on January 1, 2018. Then, when the “summer blend” fuel returns, you’ll notice the 12 cents more tax per gallon. And then, in July 2019, the Democrats’ new gas tax will increase around 7.5 cents more per gallon, which is nearly 20 cents per gallon total in new gas taxes.

California has higher gas prices than other states because of higher gas taxes (the consequences of Democrat rulers), higher gasoline regulations (it costs more to produce California-only blends), lower supply from within (the State greatly limits oil drilling), lower supply from without (the State isn’t permitting new pipelines from other states), and higher real estate prices (more depressing of the supply due to Democrats’ laws) and more expensive employees (job-killing socialism of the Democrat politicians).

Bottom line, when Democrats are in control of a state and are in bed with environmental wacko groups, you and everyone else gets socked with higher gas prices and higher prices for most everything else!
