The day after: My take on California’s November 2012 election

Without an army, there is no defense and no opportunity to revolt against tyrants. This is true for defending territory and for defending or attaining good government.

California conservatives have no standing army, nor do California Christians, compared to the standing “armies” of the union bosses with big war chests, who consistently fund Democrat candidates and big, immoral government.

How did we get here? As a whole, the Church is either anemic or AWOL when it comes to civic responsibility. This is the consequence of believing you shouldn’t mix religion with politics, a sure recipe for immoral government. This mindset invites evil to win. For you can’t have religious freedom without political action, and you can’t have good government without Christians working to gain and maintain it.

So, without a truth standard to know what is RIGHT, and without a standing “army” to put MIGHT behind what’s right, it’s not surprising that California conservatives and Christians have not taken new ground, but have lost more ground in this election.

Today, lackluster RIGHT and missing MIGHT has resulted in Democrats apparently capturing a 2/3rd supermajority in both the California Assembly and California Senate, empowering them to directly raise taxes.

The union-backed Democrats needed only two more seats in each house. Senate Democrats have likely picked up three seats (SD 17 on the Central Coast, SD 19 in Santa Barbara/Ventura counties, and SD 31 in Riverside County). And Assembly Democrats have captured what appear to be two seats (AD 32 in Kern/Kings counties and AD 65 in north Orange County).

Meanwhile, California voters have approved:

Prop. 30 to raise taxes on all Californians

Prop. 36 to release some career criminals

Prop. 39 to give businesses more reason to leave

Prop. 40 to keep biased legislative districts

A wise historian once observed, “Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.”

Where is America right now? Probably between apathy and dependence. Where is California right now? I think in a state of dependency headed back toward bondage. What is the solution? Spiritual truth, God’s truth, applied in people’s lives and applied to political involvement.

Don’t throw your hands up and say there’s no hope. Instead, commit yourself to become more responsible or productive in the opportunities God has given you. Remember, freedom is not free.

So I ask — will pastors, who are supposed to guide and equip believers in Jesus, teach them to be holy and fruitful, courageously helping people to personally repent and politically repent of their wicked ways? Will professing Christians repent, reject ignorance, and put on love by creating a citizen army in their communities that can win future elections? (Here’s how).  Will professing Christians resign from their union to keep working but stop subsidizing immoral government? These choices are in your hands.

SaveCalifornia.com is leading and working to renew the culture by stimulating believers to be difference-makers in their communities. Together, let’s persevere and shine Jesus’ light of truth into the darkness of our culture, reaching people who desperately need God’s wisdom for themselves and their families.

“As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’ But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and worship them, then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

Fight the good fight this weekend

and does not support or oppose candidates for public office.

When I was in San Diego talking to the folks at The Rock Church last weekend, I told them there are two things they could do to multiply votes for moral values this election:

1. SHARE YOUR PERSONAL VOTER GUIDE:
Study how to vote in a way that pleases God, then send your personal voter guide to your lists (email, Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc.). Don’t be afraid of someone disagreeing with you. Instead, love people by explaining the truth to them. For help, visit our SaveCalifornia.com Election Center. You’ll be empowered to vote with confidence!

2. VOLUNTEER THIS WEEKEND FOR ONE OR MORE HOURS: On Saturday morning, call a moral-values candidate in your area, especially if you know they’re in a tight race. Tell them, “I want to volunteer, where’s your office?” These candidates would love to hear from you this final weekend when they need more volunteers — persons just like you — to “get out the vote” to achieve victory.

Yes, there is still time this weekend for you to make a difference. I believe professing Christians should put their Christianity into practice by loving God and loving their neighbors with good government. Right now, half of California’s voters are planning to vote Tuesday instead of already voting by mail. You can play a special part by bringing them the truth that protects children and families.

[T]he time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent ground in politics or the Lord will curse them. . . . Christians have been exceedingly guilty in this matter. But the time has come when they must act differently. . . . Christians seem to act as if they thought God did not see what they do in politics. But I tell you He does see it – and He will bless or curse this nation according to the course they [Christians] take [in politics].
The great American evangelist Charles Finney (1792-1875)

The battle continues for smart Californians

Monday, October 1, 2012, 6:15 pm | Randy Thomasson

Of all the bad anti-family bills passed by the Democrat politicians and signed in the last week by Democrat Governor Jerry Brown, there are three of these bad laws that smart Californians still can and need to resist.

AB 2109: Although Jerry Brown signed this bill to require parents of government schools, private schools, and home schools to receive a) a lecture about the supposed risks of not receiving injections of risky vaccines, and b) a signature verifying the parent heard the lecture – parents still won’t have to obey this new law. Why?

It’s because Jerry Brown still runs his administration, and in his AB 2109 signing message, he instructed that the new state parent immunization form have a “religious beliefs” exemption check box, similar to the current state form with the “personal beliefs” exemption section.

There is a large, growing group of good parents who oppose vaccinating their young children due to the health risks of vaccinations, including destruction of the natural immunity process, acceleration of auto-immune disease processes, and possible triggering of autism in infants.

What’s more, an increasing number of informed parents are concerned about toxic additives used in vaccines, the serious risks and side effects associated with receiving them, and how the long-term health of children may be permanently affected by the “professional” vaccine schedule. Read about these risks at Natural News here and here and here.

SB 1172: This tyrannical bill bans parents from seeking counseling for their child who thinks he or she is “homosexual.” It also threatens to discipline licensed counselors who care enough to help gender-confused children, who have often been molested or raped.

This new law is a terrible robbing of freedom in America. It goes against molested children, their concerned parents, and good-hearted counselors. Under SB 1172, a teenager who wants to overcome gender confusion cannot receive this counseling, even if his parent wants it and pays for it.

How to fight SB 1172:

1. Civil disobedience: There are God-given parental rights that are above man’s immoral laws. Civil disobedience, for the right cause, in the right way, is biblical. SaveCalifornia.com is calling upon courageous counselors and knowledgeable pastors to defy this tyrannical edict and give hurting children the soul recovery they desperately need.

2. Constitutional lawsuit: There are two federal lawsuits underway. One is from Pacific Justice Institute and the other is from Liberty Counsel. As Liberty Counsel puts it, SB 1172 violates mental health therapists’ “ethical obligation to help clients deal with conflict” (First Amendment religious freedom). Another argument is the violation of basic parental rights, a foundational right (God-given natural right) which the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld several times. See Liberty Counsel’s news release

AB 1856: Authored by homosexual activist and San Francisco Democrat Tom Ammiano, and passed by the Democrat-controlled Legislature, AB 1856 requires foster parents to be trained to positively support homosexuality, bisexuality, cross-dressing/”sex changes” among the abused children in their care. The training is called “cultural competency and sensitivity” in support of these unnatural and unhealthy sexual behaviors.

This burdensome, perverse training, which will be incorporated into existing training sessions for foster parents, threatens to tramples religious freedom, destroys moral sensitivities, and erases the differences between male and female in foster homes. But there’s a way to try to get around it.

If you’re a foster parent and have Christian values or have other moral values on sexuality, then you can go to these training sessions, in which the “LGBT” agenda will be taught, and just sit there and take notes without talking. Then go home and teach moral values to needy kids in your home. Refuse to have your mind and practices changed, even if they try to brainwash you.

But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”
