Best strategy to defeat infanticide bill, AB 2223

Tuesday, April 19, 2022, 8:53 pm | Randy Thomasson

The bad news is AB 2223 to legalize ‘perinatal death’ (infant death up to a month after birth) — in other words, legalizing infanticide — has passed two Democrat-controlled committees in the Assembly.

Due to all the opposition calls and opposition witnesses, it was hard to pass AB 2223 in the Assembly Health Committee April 19. Several Democrats had left the hearing, and probably the Capitol building, before 6pm. But AB 2223 sponsor Planned Parenthood and bill author Buffy Wicks of Oakland corralled them back — so all the Democrat committee members returned to vote yes for this infanticide bill. See our updated analysis

Yet the good news is AB 2223 might be defeated on the Assembly floor. Because Planned Parenthood abortionists aren’t on the floor, and the floor is where even Democrat members have traditionally been allowed to vote their conscience.

Who to call? SaveCalifornia.com has done the research for you. Below are the names and telephone numbers of 28 Assembly targets. These are Democrat assemblymembers who are either termed-out, new and untested, running in a new district, running in a formerly Republican district, or who have a history of sometimes abstaining on the most radical Democrat bills.

Here’s the math: If none of the Assembly’s 19 Republicans and 1 independent (former Republican Chad Mayes) vote for AB 2223, and if 17 of the current 59 Democrats abstain or vote no, this horrific bill will be defeated.

Instructions for calling

Unless you see your own assemblymember on this list below, please call only during non-business hours (8pm to 8am and weekends) and remain anonymous. The reason is so your calls will have impact and not be “trashed” (the Democrat legislators’ M.O. is to disregard every message not from their own constituents). By leaving anonymous voicemails only, the offices cannot reliably “trash” your calls, and you’ll “mix” in and be part of the flood of opposition calls.

Leave a strong voicemail message against AB 2223. Use your own words or our suggested message, such as: “Oppose AB 2223. This bill permits ‘perinatal deaths,’ which means permitting killing newborns up to a month after birth. Oppose AB 2223, which opens the door to infanticide.”

Source: The MedicineNet website definition of perinatal period is “starts at the 20th to 28th week of gestation and ends 1 to 4 weeks after birth.”

If you’re calling your own assemblymember, you should call during business hours, and identify yourself as living in his or her legislative district.

Democrat politicians for infanticide

Tuesday, April 5, 2022, 3:24 pm | Randy Thomasson

Thank you to everyone who called to oppose AB 2223, the devilish Democrat bill that would legalize the killing of newborn babies with no law enforcement investigation allowed. You are on the side of truth and life and justice, while the Democrat politicians voting today to advance this infanticide bill are your polar opposites.

Despite the Democrat-controlled Assembly Judiciary Committee approving AB 2223 on April 5, at the hearing, this baby-killing bill was exposed by an expert opposition witness, attorney Susan Arnall of the California-based Right to Life League.

While more than a hundred individuals opposed AB 2223 in committee — in person or by phone — no individuals spoke in support of the bill — only pro-abortion groups, such as the misnamed Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, American Civil Liberties Union, Lawyers for Reproductive Justice, and National Advocates for Pregnant Women.

See the vote: All six of the committee’s ruling Democrats robotically voted for AB 2223. And while the minority Republicans did not support it, they were lackluster, with none speaking against this infanticide bill to expose it.

Democrats
Eloise Reyes of San Bernardino
Robert Rivas of Salinas
Brian Maienschein of San Diego
Mark Stone of Santa Cruz
Chris Holden of Pasadena
Ash Kalra of San Jose

Republicans
Jordan Cunningham of San Luis Obispo (wasn’t there — did not vote)
Laurie Davies of San Juan Capistrano
Devon Mathis of Visalia (replaced Kevin Kiley of Rocklin on the committee)

Thank you to everyone who called and showed up and gave this murderous bill a well-deserved black eye. Our best chance to defeat AB 2223 is on the Assembly floor, where even Democrat members are much more likely to “vote their conscience.” Next step is the Assembly Health Committee. Track with us at the SaveCalifornia.com Legislation Center.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Is there hope for religious exemptions to the ‘jab’?

Monday, February 21, 2022, 2:37 pm | Randy Thomasson

Feb. 22, 2022 update: The day after posting my “great hope” blog, I’m now wondering if the U.S. Supreme Court will indeed protect religious freedom, let alone medical freedom for all. My confusion — and angst — is because this morning SCOTUS silently turned down an appeal from medical workers in Maine, who are crying out for their First Amendment religious freedom and their 1964 Civil Rights Act religious rights. Only four votes were needed, and there were supposed to be four justices to take this case (on January 13, when the Supreme Court narrowly upheld Biden & Co.’s health worker “Covid vaccine mandate” nationwide, there were four dissenters — Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Barrett). All I can say is that if Barrett’s looking for the “right case” and she turned down the Maine petition because it’s “not the one,” hopefully she’ll overcome perfectionism, embrace the whole constitution, and vote to hear the very next religious exemption case that petitions the nation’s high court. Because millions of health-conscious Americans — especially in “blue states” such as California — are suffering big-time from violations of their God-given liberties, constitutional rights, and 1964 Civil Rights Act guarantees! My friend Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel (it’s their case), is also bewildered by the court.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s one-paragraph denial of a San Diego student’s religious exemption injunction request on February 18 is pregnant with great hope for conscientious Californians and Americans.

Because the court majority implied it only turned down the injunction because San Diego Unified School District board members voted February 8 to delay any “Covid vaccine” mandate upon students. Notably, the nation’s high court invited a future injunction request on a religious-freedom basis “if circumstances warrant.” Realize this order took at least 5 votes!

The Thomas More Society, which is representing the San Diego minor, wrote“We are pleased with the current posture of this case for several reasons. First, our client’s goal was to attend school in person, and play sports, without being forced to comply with an illegal vaccine mandate – and she can do that for now. Second, the Supreme Court made clear that it is watching this case and that our client can come back and seek emergency relief in the future should the need arise. Thus, our legal team will be poised and ready to seek further relief at the Supreme Court if and when SDUSD reinstates all or part of their unconstitutional vaccine mandate.”

While a constitutional majority on the 9-member Supreme Court would quickly strike down every infringement of medical freedom and religious freedom, this court led by the unreliable John Roberts wants to do things “its own way” — meaning millions of people will continue suffering from injurious medical tyranny until the “right cases” come before the court, with full briefings.

Yet a case about the religious freedom of Maine healthcare workers to refuse unwanted “Covid vaccines” could soon be accepted by the Supreme Court (it takes 4 justices to accept a case). SaveCalifornia.com currently counts 4 justices in favor of medical freedom (Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Barrett). Therefore, it would take just one more justice — probably Brett Kavanaugh — to agree on the religious right to be exempt from vaccines, providing nationwide relief in June or sooner.

The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
